Yes. First acceptance in.

Wow. What a charming entrance.

Doing the happy dance for curmudgeon and thumper! After all these months of planning, visiting, researching, and applying, it's finally ACCEPTANCE TIME!

Congrats to mudgette... and a "Whoohoo" to the Mudge, also. I keep telling people (and I can't emphasize enough) the importance of having at least one rolling admissions school on the list. It makes everything else so much less stressful.

And congrats to Curmudgeon D on her acceptance. I do think the first acceptance is the most exciting of all regardless of whether it is a safety or the top choice. It's that "ah" feeling and knowing that the kiddo is going to go to college somewhere. Hendrix is a great school. And there will be more good news to come, I'll bet.

Well, hello123123, everybody is entitled to their oppinion on this broad. ;)

Thumper, it feels good, doesn't it? LOL. Congrats. Lots more work to be done but hey-at least they have one down.

And hello123123, that "lower tier student" phrase describes her to a "T". You upper tier students are far too advanced for her.

She'll just have to suffer her ostracism from the select few at a school where every ninth student becomes a doctor (if she decides to go to Hendrix). The shame. The horror.

hello123123, you are kidding, right? From everything I've read about Hendrix, it's very selective and students are very happy to be accepted there. I would be thrilled to have a child attend there. It has four stars in all categories in the Best 357 Colleges book.

(kyedor, shush. They might change their mind and choose to attend .)

hello123123, thanks for joining today to post that as your first post. You just remember the Rule of Prestige in College Selection:

*** If it ain't top twenty,

it ain't got any.***

You'll be finestkind.;)

All right, enough foolin' around. There will be more acceptances rolling in, and we need to keep track like we do every year. A thread needs to be started, named something like '2005 Official Acceptances Thread'.

Curmudgeon or Thumper1 : will one of you do the honors?

gosh curmudge, you have your very own troll!!

NJRes, I thought the exact same thing. That person popped up just to be a creep. Don't worry Cur, we'll protect you! Oh, wait, you are a Texan with a ranch. And probably guns and stuff. Most likely don't need protection;)

dont' forget the cow patties ;)

got to love rolling admissions- that is great!
Before thanksgiving already!

Gee willikers!! Can we keep him? I'll feed him and take him for walks under the bridge. I promise I will. Honest.

Curmudgeon -

Best wishes to your daughter! Hendrix is indeed a fine liberal arts college. I hope many more acceptances will follow....

Yes indeed! First one in for the Rancher Man and prodigal daughter. As a rancher friend of mine likes to say: "That's slicker than deer guts on a doorknob."

Seriously, congratulations. That first one always means so much. You've taken a giant step from the realm of theory into the tangible. And it gets increasingly real as other fine choices become available to your daughter. Of course, it's all a cleverly designed conspiracy to gradually immerse you into this new life so you don't spontaneously combust when you get a load of the bills.

A Goat-Raising Girl with a Troll-Walking Dad????? In the Curmudgeon Universe, this might just work!

Congratulations to you both!

Trolls? Goats? Curmudgeons? Haven't I read that in a fairy tale somewhere?

Well, he is a bit gruff....

And congrats to ThumperD!!!!!!

Ah, crossing the bridge to better pastures, watching out for evil trolls who may waylay you, sticking together: the path to college, 'tis a mere fairy tale.

We have started an ongoing thread to post acceptances so that the main board doesn't get cluttered. Please post all good news (and sad news) in that section, which is at the top of the page. Congratulations to all!
