so, im sure that some of u gals out there have read some of the popular fictional books about boarding school (it girl, private, etc.) embarrassingly enough, i can say that i have-tho they r pretty good books!
but anyhow- can anyone who is actually in attendence (or has been) at a bs enlighten us the question of whether or not bs in anything like those books?
and when i say anything, i mean anything!!
just for the sake of curiosity

people say that its not anything like those books, although the "cliques" can be kind of realistic..
and the clothes arent like most public school clothes..
but dont take my word for it

Haha, no. I read those books because I find it amusing how totally unrealistic they are...the cliques are realistic, but you find cliques in every school.

i don't really enjoy those books... they all have generally the same plot structure and seem to just describe luxurious goods in great detail to make up for their lack of substance. they CAN sometimes be fun reads but i certainly hope that they aren't what real boarding schools are like.

ahaha...yeah, ur right. thats the only reason y i really like the books 2-
cuz they're sooo incredibly dramatic!! it is quite amusing, tho it's true, they do get just a wee bit materialistic in them-but that's what makes fictional!
but yeah--the preppiness(did i spell that right?) i can totally c

a friend of mine attends a top boarding school and ive slept over her dorm numerous times and i can tell you now: not at ALL like "the clique" or "gossip girl", etc. the kids are really work oriented, and if they have the spare time- they just hang out in the dining hall or common room, they don't go out on shopping sprees, etc. most are really conscious about their money because they realize how much is spent just on their tuition alone. they may dress in cute clothes during classes, but no one really knows what designer you're wearing, and outside of classes- basically EVERYONE dresses in a t shirt/shorts/sweats. its really surprising how little they care about their appearance.

there are obviously the popular people, but they're pretty much hated, and everyone thinks they're annoying, anyway. its just all about being with friends who share the same interests as you, which shouldn't be so hard at a boarding school, anyway. kids aren't really so catty and materialistic as you think they'd be. there aren't that many gorgeous kids, either. again, you have to think about how work oriented they are and must've been to even get into the school in the first place. they're basically a herd of all the nerds from each school bunched together on one campus. haha.

wait, if they're popular, how can they be hated? The very definition of popular means widely liked. I like the definition of the cool girls in the movie Mean Girls: The Plastics. You can hate The Plastics.

I think most people are envious of the cool kids in my school, but don't hate them, cuz they aren't mean. Truthfully, tho, I wouldn't want to go to the school your friend attends. A "herd of nerds" does not sound very appealing to me at all! :D

i certainly hope they aren't like those dumb books, that's definitely NOT what i'm leaving for. but every school has it's Plastics, and populars and down right mean people, so we're just going to have to deal with it. :D

confession... I am addicted to "the clique" and "private" series. yeah, they're dumb-- but come on. I doubt the Oddyessy is going to distract me from March tenth!

hahha kitkat- dont get so technical! theyre "popular" becuase they play good sports, have good looks/money/clothes, etc, but are just annoying becuase they know all this and take advantage of it.

and umm. the "herd of nerds" part may sound unappealing, but it is definitely a school that most kids strive for.

Yeah! That one's really good! You know, the Private books are what made me want to go to boarding school! I was reading them and on a whim I Googled boarding schools. It brought me to boardingschoolreview.com and I checked out some of them. I liked a lot of the schools so I decided to apply. And, to think, I only Googled them because I was curious.

wow.that is pretty funny.
you could end up owing your entire life to that book, AGSAABS!
I don't know though-for me, I sort of always knew that I wanted to go to BS. I remember when I would movies, such as Parent Trap, and think, "Man! I would love that!" when "Cruela" says that she's going to send the brats off to boarding school. (Although, that house in Napa, CA was pretty amazing, if you ask me--I'd never want to leave that behind!)
I've just never really been one to get too homesick. I live for adventure and change!! So that's why I cannot wait for the verdict!!! AHHH! It's killin' me!
