What do you think my chances are of getting into the University of Washington?? Do you think my chances are smaller because I am from out of state??

Your chances do decrease as an OOS applicant because standards are higher. With your current GPA/SAT I’d call it a reach. If you can raise your unweighted GPA it would be more of a match. Also try to get that ACT score a little bit higher (it’s definitely within the range of accepted applicants, but a higher score might offset your GPA). Good ECs as well… make sure your essays stand out. Good luck!

Hey I’m from Washington state so I might be of help here.

Being OOS does make it a lot harder, as UW is definitely one of the many public universities that gives preference to Washingtonians.

I would recommend that you try and spend your time doing things that are somewhat relevant to what you want to de and then later emphasize exactly why you want to go to UW in your application (what program and such).

Your scores, grades, and classes are all on the right track, but it couldn’t hurt to try really hard this semester to maybe get an upward trend.

Great to hear that you want to be wearing some purple and gold! Haha, in fact I’m wearing a UW sweatshirt right now =]

PM me if you want any more info or have any other questions. My brother goes there as well.

ok! thanks for the tips!
