Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea on my chances? I didn't do so great my first semester, but I'm planning on pulling my grades up for the midterm report, second semester. Here's my deal:

Thinking of Transferring from: Columbia U
To: Brown, Wesleyan, Swarthmore

GPA: 3.2

Pretty solid high school record, I've been active in some organizations here too.
I really would like to transfer, but I don't know if it would be worth it, since I don't know that I'd get in... what do you think? Is it worth the hassle?

what are your hs stats? ec's? if you are applying for fall '09 semester, xfer colleges will not see the grades you receive next semester unless you are on the border and they request them, which is relatively rare

based on your college gpa alone, applying to brown with a 3.2 is, to be blunt, absurd. brown will turn back applicants with 4.0's for transfer next semester, a 3.2 is not even close...swathmore and wesleyan could be out of reach as well

if you want out of columbia you may have to lower your expectations or pull your gpa up and apply for junior xfer

Wait. Columbia is better than all the schools you listed - I mean depending on what you want to do. Why do you want to transfer? I don't see the "smaller school, more attention argument" since Columbia is the smallest Ivy, nor do I see a "not intellectual enough" argument either.
