Yet Another Graded Writing Sample Question.

For the last two years, my English classes have been geared toward getting students to pass the AP exam, so all of the essays I have done are timed, in-class essays. The essays are given a score, but are not returned to us with comments.

After having our essays returned with a grade, we are asked to type and revise for clarity and to fix grammatical errors. Then the teacher grades the essay again, but only for writing style, not content. She gave us comments for our first essay only. This was the one I intended to submit.

I initially thought it was fine to submit this type of writing sample, but after reading some of what people on this thread have said, I now have doubts.

I highly doubt my teacher will consider regrading my essay for content.

What should I do?

I think you should submit what you have. I mean, I would have been in much the same pickle as you had I not completed a writing program over the summer, where we wrote academic essays. As long as Reed gets to see your writing ability, it should be O.K. Although, maybe, you want to attach something that explains the type of essay/nature of the grading?
