Yet another prawn who's worrying...

Hi, it's me again. I'm sure no one remembers so I'll re-introduce myself.

I'M CARCRAZY! =D
(Okay, actually that's a really old nickname of mine, but anyway...)

I'm a Sophomore in High-School this year, and while apparently quite talented in school, I'm still making stupid mistakes and "ruining" my grades. I've had eyes set on MIT since, well, about this time last year.

One of my goals from last school year was to make it into all Honors classes for this year, and by the skin of my nose, I did. I ended up being dropped from two my a new cap the school administration decided upon for this year, but was transferred back in on the second day of school when someone dropped out, being as I had the next-highest overall average/GPA on the "list," as they put it.

I just took the PSAT on wed. and won't get the results back until Early-Mid December, and although I'm hoping for a 2100 - as I'm normally a great standardized test taker - I'm worried as heck about it. ...I'm also worried about my grades, which I WILL bring up by the end of the year, but being as I'm already a sophomore, I'm worried the end of the year may be too late. =/

...I was doing well, as in straight A's, the first half of the grading period this year; then I slipped slightly and ended up with 3 91's, a 93, and something like an 89 in Spanish I, (which mind you, I'm taking a year early.) Then, my photography teacher screwed me over by giving me two zero's on assignments (and not mentioning a thing,) that we did IN CLASS, and were turned in IN CLASS. However, I had no way of proving that I turned them in, so I just bygones be bygones. Anyway, I went from a 99, (highest in the class,) to about a 79, if I remember correctly.

I now have a 3.82 WEIGHTED GPA because of that. My goal for this year is at least a 4.5 weighted GPA, and a 2100 on the SAT- hopefully before my Junior year begins. I'm also considering starting a Spanish Club at my school, kind of like a study group, if nothing else than to force myself to study, and to help the other mass amount of people that can't really study for it well... and to get it on my record that I started the group. (lol)

I'm also going to set a goal to be invited into the Beta Club at the end of the year, on top of getting back into my school's Key Club, (which I just for some reason haven't gone by to sign-up yet.)

Can anyone think of anything else that I can do, or should do, to help myself? Even if it's nothing more than something that looks good to MIT, or something just to increase my odds by getting into a higher-end school in general.

...oh yes, I've worked management at a local Dairy Queen (don't lol,) for a bit over a year now, have worked in computer repair/upgrade/etc, locally, for the past 2 years now, and am about to start another website, since my old one failed- probably about two years back. I've played JV and Varsity football since the 7th grade, and was considering going out for the Baseball team this year, as I figured it'd also look good for college, however I've decided against it, as I believe I need the extra time to study. >.<

Thanks ahead of time for your comments, they really are appreciated. I don't have any major "connections," aren't rich, and heck, the only person I even know near Mass is my uncle, who I'm not sure even went to college... haha. I'm really just a high-school student who realizes that he screwed around WAY to much in middle and elementary school, and is trying to do right now.

...okay, I'm done with the dramatic speech now. =P

Good call. Don’t do things just to get into college. Do things you enjoy.

You’re a sophomore. Try to pull good grades, take classes that interest you (not all the APs ever if you’re not interested), do the activities you love. Seriously, you’ll end up where you need to be.

I have a question. Let’s say someone got a 65 on a quiz, would that prevent that person from getting a 4.0 GPA?
