Yet another UT Austin Transfer post...

Hi, all. Just looking for perspective on a couple of things before I complete my UT Austin transfer application.

I’m a non traditional student–high school was nearly ten years ago. I finished my Associate’s this past May with a 3.9 GPA. Because I work full time, and for the majority of my college schooling had to take online classes (the campus was an hour+ away from where I lived), I was not involved with any extra curricular activities. Once I moved closer to the school, I worked as a student tutor for them (on top of my regular job), and was accepted into the English Honor Society for 2 Year Colleges.

I’m applying to the liberal arts school as a history major (first choice). I have a steady work history, but again, lack the extra curricular involvement that UT Austin seems to stress as an important factor in their reviewing process. I’ve written the statement of purpose and special circumstances essays, and am currently undecided as to whether or not I should write a third essay as well. I do think my essays are solid, and have had them reviewed several times during the writing process by people I trust to give me an honest opinion. Overall, I feel like I may have a shot at being accepted; I’m a Texas resident, and it seems that might help me out just a little.

In your opinions and experiences, is it possible for a transfer student with little to no extra curricular activities to be admitted to the school? And, furthermore–at least in general–is it better to write more essays rather than the minimum of two? I can likely write a third essay, but don’t want to commit overkill on my application.

I forgot to add that my community college did not offer class rankings, but I did graduate with honors.
