-Reside in NJ
-Permanent Resident
-Came to the States as a Freshman (lived in the states for 2 yrs when I was young so I have no accent and can speak fluently)
-Attend Catholic School
-Will be graduating with the most AP classes taken in my class (7 in total)

Senior Courseload
AP Chem, AP Gov, AP English, AP Calc BC, Honors Spanish IV, Multimedia/Gym, Religion

TOEFL (iBT) ← don’t know if it matters at all cuz I got a 700 on my CR but anyways… I got a 116/120.

What’s killing me are the AP scores
Calc BC: 2 (subscore 3)
US: 3
Stats: 3
APs I have taken, with the exception of US History, are courses for Seniors only. Seniors don’t do anything second semester and the teachers just let them pass and get decent grades by pretty much not doing anything in my school… I hope the AP scores don’t affect my chances…

My hook(?)

 • Patent
 • The fact that I started out taking ESL English as a freshman and ended up taking AP English as a senior (i kinda think thats an accomplishment)

I want to major in Finance
I know that my chances are slim but Wharton really is my DREAM school… please give me your honest opinion…
Thanks in advance.

you are def. an interesting applicant
Looking at your GPA/SAT/ECs... you are not weak or very strong in any of those areas... but you are def. unique enough to get accepted into any school... at the same time, if the adcoms dont think you are who they are looking for, i guess theres not much you can do about it

yea, i agree with hsmulti that you are interesting, which is a good thing.
However, make sure not to overwhelm the application with EVERY LAST thing you did. Keep your best commitments and expand on them.

BY the way, regarding AP scores, you don't even have to report them if you don't want to.
In fact, since you are applying to Wharton, which demands a VERY STRONG math student, if I were you I definitely would not report that AP Calc. score and make sure to tell your guidance counselor he/she shouldn't either.

lol we have almost identical stats...except for the patent, which will definately help you a lot.

don't report ur calc or stats score, and you have a good shot

Wharton: reach.

Applying RD will make you stand out a hundred times more then applying ED. There will be people with your stats and EC's applying ED. So I dont think you will be "unique" unless you apply RD.

Here some advice whartonorbust: Shut up.

OP> Don't pay attention to the above poster. S/he loves spreading false information to discourage people from applying ED. Check the poster's history for details and his false claims about how RD helps "immensely". Just apply...no one on these boards have the credentials or the authority to judge anyone. Hell some of the people who got in still don't understand why they did. Remember your chances are 0 unless you apply.

Is LEAD hard to get into?

^ I doubt it. I got a brochure in the mail, thought it was interesting, and applied for financial assistance. I got a 50% aid package, but I decided to go to TASP instead, which is free.

This patent sounds interesting; could you describe it in greater detail? Perhaps you should attach something explaining your patent (legal document, etc.) Have you entered your business method in any competitions? It might make you stand out if you have legitimate recognition by an organization.

Apply ED. It helps.

Sorry, my above post was wrong.

ED helps tremendously...like...

[-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------] <---that much, maybe more
