You Are Tiger Town Bound

@burghdad thanks! and thats great for your daughter! we are from NY and she has a 29 ACT 4.0 uw gpa and her school does not rank so I don’t think she will be receiving any merit what do you think?

@heygurl180 I think for those schools that don’t rank they have some formula and certainly with your daughters UW 4.0 and 29 ACT she should get the $7500.

The other thing I can suggest is that my daughter’s school also doesnt publish rankings. However they do have them The school policy is that if class rank is needed for scholarships or service academy nominations they will give them to the student/parent. Because Clemson seems so all about class rank I emailed guidance counselor and asked him for the rank which was in top 5%. I then asked him to include that number in his gc recommendation letter. I can’t know for sure if he did or not but she did get merit money commensurate with those numbers.

Good luck.

@adtuck @bsl1199 My daughter received the email on Dec 22. We assumed the letter would arrive over break, but it didn’t. I spoke with admissions today and they said that it was sent on the 14th. They are having problems with the post office losing them or mistaking them for junk mail, They are resending it. You may want to follow up if you still haven’t received it.

Still no email or packet here–we are in VA. Anyone else from VA still waiting?

@g8rmomk8ans I spoke with admissions right before Christmas. They said they are beind with applicants from NJ, MA and VA and we applied August 1st. They said they have until Feb 15th, but are hopeful we will hear after their break is over.

We are still waiting here in TX with a 27 ACT, DD applied on Aug 1. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone OOS, below a 29, without a merit award, be accepted yet. I am assuming (hoping actually) acceptances so far have been tied to merit and ACT/SAT test scores.

@mweb136 thank you–we were wondering what’s going on. She has a 30 ACT and a 93 avg, (school does not rank, so we’re sitting here wondering what was going on.

Clemson is not a rolling admissions school with most being notified in Feb. they do trickle out admissions for higher stats students , but do not be discouraged if you haven’t heard yet .

I really want to echo what @carolinamom2boys said. It doesn’t seem that way from this forum sometimes, but most acceptances are mailed February 15th. A small percentage of the total accepted students hear early. I’m in SC and there are many right here in the state who don’t even realize those early letters even go out at all. Watch for the university’s social media right around Feb 15th and they usually show the mass mailing of envelopes all going out at the same time. I know lots of schools that don’t mail until March so at least it’s February!

Still no word for us here in PA. My daughter applied on Oct 1st. Her grades, ranking, scores make her eligible for $10-$15K merit. I called Admissions right before Christmas and the person confirmed they had everything but didn’t give me any information as to why we hadn’t heard. I was really hoping they’d be more helpful based upon the posts I’ve read here. She’s applying as a Plant & Environmental Science major. We would be blissfully unaware of the early admission decisions and scholarship offers except that our son heard early 2 years ago. He applied in the same timeframe and his credentials weren’teven quite as good. He applied into Engineering. Any thoughts on whether they are behind with PA applications or with applications in her major?

I really don’t know, however wonder if they are dealing with more applications than even two years ago. Maybe due to the football team’s exposure!?

@astnvila Very frustrating I’m sure. My PA daughter submitted app 10/13 but only got app complete notification 11/14. Got admittance letter 12/18. She was undecided AAH major.

We just double-checked and she submitted on 9/24 and received the application complete email 10/9. She submitted using the Coalition app. I do believe Clemson has received many more applications than 2 years ago, but it’s concerning that so many others are hearing who applied after her with similar credentials. I thought it may have to do with her major. I guess we’ll sit tight until mid-February. She applied to Honors as well.

As you have no doubt seen from @Baxter126 and others and from your sons experience Clemson is not rolling admission. However as you noted it is very frustrating that others with lesser numbers are getting admitted already.
.
However as you know it does have to do with individual state AC and perhaps the PA behind. Also rest assured that Clemson is all about test scores, Gpa and class rank. Your daughter has them so she will get in.

@astnvila I think it has to do with her major. They accept based on major so if she applied to a very selective one, her scores might be lower than others and thus might her acceptance letter might be sent out later. Don’t compare her so much because everyone will know by february 15 at least which isn’t too far away.

@clemson22 I have heard the they accept by major issue as well …but when I talked to admissions counselor about my daughter who applied as us declared I was told major didn’t matter but it was about the state the applicant was from for why some high stat applicants had heard when others hadn’t.

@burghdad A Clemson admissions rep said that? It’s so strange because Clemson is very wishy washy with just about everything and I can never seem to get a definite answer when I ask them haha. It makes this process a little less comforting. But I have seen multiple people also state the news about the mailing issue recently so I guess we will go with that now!

@JerseyPops -Thanks-my DS finally got his on 12/26…email came 12/22. Hope your DD gets hers soon but if she got the email at least you know its coming-congrats!

@Drewbiemom I have heard they got something like 8,000 more applicants this year (I even heard 12,000 somewhere too!). We were told they were anticipating it and planning on that, but it’s still a huge jump in numbers.

@clemson22 yes that is what she told me. I would note that I specifically asked if the fact my daughter who had high stats but was undeclared would be precluded from early admission because she didn’t have a declared major. The AC said is not done by major but rather it was about AC for the particular state and that we should expect something in the next week or so. True to her word my daughter got admission in middle of December with $15,000 merit money.

@Baxter126 See what a national championship can do for a school. I remember before the 1984 NCAA championship Villanova was a regional catholic school that was fairly easy to get into. Win the NCAA and the number of admission went through the roof and 30 some years later it is a national school and very difficult to get into.
