YoungArts 2014-2015

does anyone know if it’s going to be this weekend? crossing my fingers.

well, to burn some time with youngest constantly on my mind, where are you guys from and what did you apply for?

@VahnGizel‌ how much documentation about your pieces did you include? it was not like college slide rooms where you can provide explanations for each photo

Missouri. Hour or so south of St. Louis. Entered in poetry, though I have one I recently finished that I wish I’d had done in time to enter. :(

Lord, this wait is never ending. I swear, every time my phone rings I jump.
And I live in New Jersey! 10 minutes or so away from the city and I applied for spoken theater :)

I am from TN and entered the visual arts category.

I included the title. medium, dimensions and the year it was created. I kind of talked about my pieces as a whole in my artist statement and how they correlate with my viewpoint as an artist.

Pennsylvania (Philadelphia region). Entered in playwriting (doubt I’ll get anything, but it was a good opportunity to revise my play  ) and spoken theatre (this is what I’m really hoping for [-O<). Agh I’m super nervous… I want to hear back now!! :-c :-c :-SS

And I’m from Baltimore, Maryland and I entered in visual arts

@16elir‌ Pennsylvania (Philadelphia region) too! About an hour away from Philly. I applied for visual arts but I’m afraid that my pieces aren’t creative enough (I did more technique drawings that “creative” ones).

No one from PA really gets recognized in visual arts so I’m kinda nervous…

Oh well. As a sophomore, I still have two more years, I guess?

I am an international student from Mexico but go to school in Texas. I am majoring in Fine Arts and I applied to visual arts, but my work is somewhat different from others and I do not know what criteria the judges have! I’m really frustrated, school is actually distracting me a little bit.

Wow - you are in college already? How old are you?

@VahnGizel‌ In your artist’s statement, did you specifically mention your pieces? I just basically went off on a tangent and talked about aspiring to become an architect.

@OverInfinity‌ No I kind of talked about my stuff as a series implicitly and my future as an artist

Oh ok, thanks! I just feel like some of the guidelines were very vague, so who knows what they were expecting!

No problem! I agree, the guidelines are super vague

@lbmatson‌ I am a freshmen in college, I am 18 years old and barely made it through the deadline haha
I hate my school’s BFA program and maybe being a finalist can increase my chances of transferring.

I was accepted to Cornell, but they decided to give me no financial aid at all, so I am doing everything in my will to transfer and get a better education, or a better resume

@bossasbeech11‌ I’m from Miami, Florida, junior in high school, and I applied in the Writing category. I submitted three poems, one short story, and one creative non-fiction.

my daughter applied in voice ( classical).we live in NYC.
