YoungArts 2014

Oh, I thought you had just received your packet before making your post. My bad. :)

Wow, that’s a lot of disciplines! I really hope everything turns out well for you, but you’ve already got one acceptance under your belt, so…:)

Can I ask you where you live?

Yep, I received a Merit in Visual Arts. I live in the midwest, Wisconsin. What is your discipline again…?

I applied for writing, short story. At this point I’m not expecting to win anything, but I’d at least like to know how/where I stand, haha. I do remember that both rejections and awards were being received at the same time last year.

I live in Texas, though, and some people in California have already received notice…and some people in southern Florida haven’t. Makes you wonder.

Then again, it’s taken upwards of a week for mail to get from Houston to my house, so…

The packet was post marked on the November 15th, that was last week Friday. But you’re way closer to Florida than me, you should of gotten something. No clue what system YoungArts is using for mailing out notification, but it does seem random. Wish they would just send out emails and call it a day. The waiting game is never fun!

@ForeverFish “people in California have already received notice”. Did they receive HM and/or merit notice? or rejection notice?

On Twitter, a girl in Los Angeles won either HM or Merit (I don’t remember which) and got notified yesterday.

We’ve heard nothing about rejections yet, so it could be that they haven’t mailed those letters yet.

Merit winner in Cinematic Arts!!! Got my packet today in NJ. :D

I live in North Carolina and haven’t received notice. I entered in writing for poetry. :/

I live in Maryland and haven’t heard/received anything. I too entered in poetry.

I haven’t received anything, either. I live in California. Whether we made it or not, though, I’m sure we’ll hear soon enough!

Merit in poetry in Arkansas today.

does anyone know if the writers hear last? I’m assuming it takes awhile to read submissions.

haven’t heard anything yet, so I’m assuming I didn’t win HM or M, but just curious

Several writers have already heard, so I’m assuming they didn’t mail those letters any later than the others. However, we haven’t heard of any rejections yet, so it’s possible that only winners are getting mail this week.

Hey everyone, I just received a packet in the mail from YA! I’m a Merit winner in writing (short story). I live in Texas.

For anyone wondering: The envelope is postmarked 11/15 and the letter is dated 11/14. However, people living farther from Miami than myself received their packets earlier, so there’s really no guarantee as to when they’ll arrive. Keep checking your mailboxes and best of luck to all!

I’m very happy right now, to say the least. :)

Very happy for you ForeverFish! YAY!

Congrats, ForeverFish! If I don’t get anything tomorrow I’m just going to assume I didn’t win anything this year. I’m a junior and this was my first year applying, so I have next year.

@ForeverFish Congratulation!! I really feel happy for you!
If you are applying college, should you update this award to admission officer?

Thanks guys!

@mellivine: The mailing process for winners really does seem to be random, so unless you receive notice otherwise, keep your hopes up. :)

@cherryli2015: Thank you, again! Yes, I’m applying to Cornell and UChicago and I’m emailing both of them tomorrow.

Quick question for the HM and M winners - I heard that you win a recommendation letter with your commendation. Is that sent with the certificate and everything? Also, is it a generic letter or is it personalized?

any theatre or MT merit or HM winners?
