YoungArts 2014

@foreverfish I believe the regional programs started last year. If you search YoungArts LA 2013, the videos are up there on youtube. One question, how do we find out what type of winner we are, the email didn’t say anything about the winner title.

@Inspired59: YA mailed packets last Friday and sent emails yesterday. If you haven’t been notified, then chances are you didn’t receive an award this year. Sorry. :(

@dreamhuge: Did you receive an email? Congratulations! If you’ve been notified by email already, your mail should be coming within the next few days.

Did all emails go out including theatre/acting? For all levels of winners?

^Winners of all levels in various disciplines have been tweeting about the regional programs they’re planning to attend, so I’d assume that all of the emails have already been sent. Plus the deadline to RSVP for a regional program is 11/26, so it’s very likely that all winners have been notified. However, I would call the YoungArts office to be sure.

@foreverfish Do you know what the email meant by competing for up to $5000 scholarship? … at the regional program? … and 2015 Presidential Scholars in the Arts. I am a senior already, how can I compete for Presidential Scholars in the Arts if I am not made eligible for 2014? And have you heard anything about if YoungArts would help in any ways with the lodging, otherwise safety issues can be a concern for high schoolers, right?

It seems weird that no Theatre Or MT have mentioned being a winner for HM or M
anyone out there? There is even a thread on the MT/T site for CC and nobody has heard anyting. Anyone out there? Buhler? Buhler??

Has anyone received an email of being a winner but has also NOT gotten mailed there YA winner packets yet?!?!?

@dreamhuge yes I did get invited to YoungArts Miami and have RSVP’d woohoo! Hope to see some of you there  Also, it says below that you are only eligible to be nominated for Presidential if you are graduating in 2015, meaning you cannot be nominated for 2014 unless you were a finalist.

I just called Young Arts and inquired if all winners, including Merit and HM have been notified and they told me no, that they are still sending out emails and letters… I expressed my concern that I heard that everyone had been notified an he told this was true… So maybe there is still a small chance… Keep my fingers crossed :)

That’s weird, if you didn’t at least get an email like all the other winners. I would think that you be at an disadvantage, since you might not be able to RSVP in time to attend one of the regional programs. I thought the point of sending out them email was to notify all the winner to RSVP before all the regional spots are taken…?

That’s really strange, as I called yesterday and they YA told me that all emails HAD been sent out for all levels…who knows at this point???

^I would definitely say that all emails have been sent at this point. Otherwise, some winners would be at a seriously unfair disadvantage under the first-come, first-serve policy for the regional programs.

Update: I haven’t heard anything for Writing yet, written or email or otherwise. I’m guessing that it was a rejection this year. But it’s okay; as some of the others have said rejection is a part of life, and it is a critical aspect of being an artist. Rejection shapes you, it doesn’t make you. Congrats to the winners and best of luck to you all for next year!

Those of you who RSVP’d for the regional programs, have you gotten any emails back? I sent mine a few days ago and haven’t heard confirmation, or that I’m on the waiting list, or anything.

^I RSVP’ed to New York and haven’t heard back either. I assumed that we would get notified at the beginning of December, when participation packets are sent.

I got me email November 21st. I replied the day after I received my YoungArts packet in the mail. Below is the actually email sent.

_

Congratulations and welcome to the YoungArts family!

Once we receive all of the RSVPs next week, we will send you an email containing a packet of paperwork with detailed instructions. Please make sure to look out for this email and return the paperwork to us by the deadline, December 11th.

_

do you think they’ll post the results online, like every other year? When do they do so usually?

Last year they did it in early December.

@wrencher94: Strange…I haven’t gotten any emails of the sort. However, I did email YA the day I got my acceptance packet and they said they’d put me on the waitlist if “I was interested.”

They said they’d send the participation packet for me to fill out, so I’m assuming I’m in the clear.

@skylarkfly: Yes, last year winners were announced on the YA website on Dec. 6. However, everyone should be notified of their status before then…

They are sending the particpation packet via email it seems. I think some time next week. Also I think rejection letters are coming out this week, haven’t herd of anyone getting one yet. I’m really upset that they would send rejection letter during the thanksgiving week! Hopefully they would be nice enough to send it after. Last year I new they sent them out earlier. So I’m still waiting for my rejecton letter for the 3 other programs I applied for. I’ll be sure to post when I do…
