<p>Guys, remember that even if you’re not a Finalist, there’s still a chance you received an Honorable Mention (top 3%) or Merit (top 5%) award. Those emails should be coming out later this week (Nov. 8 is what the Acceptd website initially reported), or early next week.</p>
<p>Winning ANYTHING from YoungArts is a big deal. More than 10,000 people applied this year; to be in the top 3 or 5 percent is simply amazing.</p>
<p>deerpretzel, please don’t give up - I’m sure you’re very talented, and these things are so subjective. And plus, they’re probably not done yet. Lots of good wishes to you.</p>

<p>Okay. I feel a little weird about the whole design arts category because there are so many disciplines covered within it! My portfolio was graphic design based…I’m not sure it’s worth it to hold out hope any more, but what the hell, right?</p>

<p>@cherryli2015, I got a call at around 3:30 EST, and sorry for any typos, as I’m writing this on my phone: @thotowoes, they called my cell but only because I was away and did not pick up my home phone! </p>
<p>Just a PSA: I don’t go to an elite arts school or academy or anything like that…in fact I wrote this while applying to colleges and stressing! I always felt miffed that kids in arts schools had entire classes devoted to story writing while I had to balance out everyhing.So put all you can into writing a unique story and don’t be intimidated by the talented arts kids! Heck, half the kids at my school dont even know what youngarts is!</p>
<p>And what qualifies as unique just means a subject they haven’t seen from that angle before. I didn’t win last year and I think it’s because I wrote something that didnt have anything new to say.</p>
