My nephew graduated in May from UA, Business degree with a focus on Sports Management, has been working 2 internships, one with the Atlanta Braves and the other with Nascar, Talladega. He was recently awarded a 9 month internship at Notre Dame. So proud of him! All of these internships were with the help of his professors at Alabama. His future looks so bright!!

Yahoo! So nice to hear this! Congrats & Best Wishes!

fabulous!

So proud of my son, whose film, Wieder 'Zam, won Best Picture in the national student competition at Campus MovieFest Hollywood two nights ago (http://www.campusmoviefest.com/hollywood/). This is the second year in a row that a Bama student has produced the Best Picture.

The film is one of a select few chosen by Virgin America Airlines for screenings on their flights and was selected for presentation in the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival.

Roll Tide and deepest gratitude to the UA Honors College and the Office of Student Affairs, who generously helped bankroll his trip to Universal Studios, the site of the awards ceremony.

Woo hoo! Roll Tide and major congrats to your son, @malanai!

Congratulations, ROLL TIDE

I just yelled out and H thought something was wrong…lol

super congrats to Malanai and son. soooooo excited.

Well-deserved congratulations to you son and his proud parents!

So who’s paying for the trip to Cannes? ;)

If you decide to take up a collection, let us know!

Congratulations to Malanai and son!

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. Alas, there will be no trip to Cannes. The film was sent over after it won Best Picture at Campus MovieFest Alabama (the regional competition) in the Spring, but we weren’t aware of that til now. A communication gap, for sure, but it’s all good. :)

Well . . . you can all go the next time! :)

Congrats to Malanai & Son!!! And, speaking of flights…
AeroSon just got notification that he received an AIAA (American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics) award for 2014, one of 4 Digital Avionics Scholarships nationwide. Could not be more proud of him right now!!! He is a member of UA’s AIAA Design/Build/Fly competitive aero team. ANY aero eng’g student at UA should join AIAA, which has a chapter on campus and holds regular meetings with interesting speakers and great networking opportunities. Thanks to UA aero professors, for their continued support of passionate students like my son. This award is for him, yes, but credit must go also to UA and its program. :)

That is awesome, @aeromom ! Congratulations to your son!
And congratulations to Malanai’s son, as well!

Aeromom, congratulations!!!

Congrats to aeromom’s son!!

Congrats to Aeromom’s son!!
Congrats to Malanai’s son!!
Fantastic news!!

DD has a job!! She has accepted a position with WinShape Foundation as a Logistics Specialist on their Operations Team. WinShape Foundation is the non-profit organization of Chick-Fil-A. She will be working at Chick-Fil-A corporate headquarters in Atlanta. She has worked the past 3 summers with WinShape and was hoping to be offered a full time position upon graduation. Their interview process was very extensive and included multiple interviews, situational writing assessments, and MS Office proficiency tests. The whole process took 3 months from the time she applied! She had several corporate (for profit) interviews since last fall and they were a piece of cake compared to her WinShape interviews. She is ecstatic as she had changed her major 2 years ago in hopes of working in operations for non-profits. She feels like she is living the dream and can’t wait to begin her new career!

Congrats! How exciting, @Peachtide!

Great news, @Peachtide. What was your daughter’s major?
