That is great, ldinct! Congratulations to your son!
Idinct: That is awesome! Glad he found such a wonderful job and is living in NYC. Congrats!
Another brag on 'Bama . . . my husband called yesterday for a very specific question pertaining to our son (admitted for class of 2016). H said they could not have been more nice or professional, and that the school spirit even “comes through the phone.”
eta: oops, just realized that I may have posted this in the wrong place (?). Sorry if I did! Roll Tide!
My son had two CS job offers in Silicon Valley and yesterday finally chose one (he interned at one this summer, but chose the other company). He graduates in December and will start in early February. We are very proud of him (although will miss him terribly.)
Congratulations!!! How wonderful for your son! Best wishes!
That is fantastic! Wow, the kids are all spreading their wings! So proud of them!
I was given an offer to co-op in Dallas at Jordan and Skala as a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering. But I have a second interview to co-op at Alaska Airlines! Hopefully I’ll get that offer also!!!
^^
@bamagirl18 good luck!
^^^Wow, that is fantastic! Congratulations!
Update on my co-op: I have accepted an offer with Alaska Airlines so I am heading to Seattle next semester! I am just thrilled (: Alabama has been so helpful and knowledgable. Our co-op office really does rock!
Congratulations! I know my DD will miss hanging out with you while you are gone.
@bamagirl18 congrats on the co-op! Enjoy!
Knock 'em dead, @bamagirl18!
way to go @bamagirl18 ! :-bd
@bamagirl18 Congrats. The Pacific Northwest is very nice from what I have seen the few times I have been there. I am jealous because that is one of the places I always wanted to live! :(|)
@bamagirl18 Congratulations! I have visited the headquarters of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air many times and highly recommend the companies. They always score very high in terms of employee and customer satisfaction.
Sophomore civil eng DD has been hired for a summer 2016 internship with Turner Construction - a large national firm with an office near parents’ home. Work will be with construction project on Redstone Arsenal (Huntsville AL) with a female project manager. Wonderful opportunity. We parents are over the moon.
Congratulations SOSConcern on your daughter’s internship. Glad to hear she will be living at home too for the summer. They grow up too fast so its nice to have them around whenever possible.
Although I have already bragged about my son, I just wanted to express my gratitude to this forum (and mom2) for my son’s success so far. He graduated on December 12th with a double-major in Computer Science and Math, and a Masters in Computer Science in 3-1/2 years. We had NO idea when we started considering Alabama that they had the University Scholars program, which allows a high-motivated student to get his undergraduate degree and, once 90 credits are completed, start working on his Masters all under the Presidential Scholarship. My son was also lucky that UA accepted his many AP credits and Clep credits, which helped make this possible. As mentioned before, he will be starting at a well-known company as a software engineer in mid-February so the quality of education for him was there also. I am so glad that this son, and now my youngest, are part of the UA community and family.
