Your Bama Brags...don't be shy! :)

My own brag is kinda more run of the mill but it makes me happy. My son who is just completing his second year at Bama was offered a paid software internship for the summer. The best thing is that it is back home in Pittsburgh. When they interviewed him on campus they presumed he wanted Huntsville but he noticed they had an office in Pittsburgh. It will be great to have him home!

Congrats!!! And awesome that he gets to do this while living at home!

Thanks M2CK! I really miss that boy especially because he is so flipping independent. For first 1 1/2 we would only hear from him like every 3 weeks. Now, since my dad passed away he is trying to be more connected, maybe twice a week.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved dad. Glad to hear that your son is now connecting more at home.

I can remember that when my boys started at Bama, they communicated less, but after time went on, they texted me more.

Not an academic honor, but my kid just found out he made the small squad of students portraying everybody’s favorite pachyderm!

Congrats to him^ :slight_smile:

I’m excited for him!!! @LucieTheLakie Do they wear ice packs in them on hot days?

No, but I’ve been told the suits themselves are machine washable! :slight_smile:

@LucieTheLakie

Big Al has to do more than dance it seems. I wonder if this is your son in the UA cyber security commercial.

Thanks for that link, @AlbionGirl! He just did his first gig yesterday for Habitat for Humanity, so that’s another “Al,” but I love all the videos. I was a Big Al fangirl long before the kid tried out!

I just heard that DS landed an internship in the Actuarial Department of Protective Life. It will be paid and includes housing. So happy for him :smiley:

Congrats!!! So happy to hear everyone’s good news!!

@AlbionGirl congrats to you and your son. My wife was offered a consulting assignment there right after DS graduated. She was like now you offer me an Alabama job?

@Chardo
LOL!

Daughter was accepted into the Delta Initiative for Women in STEM. She has been on campus for the last two summers attending Early College, but starts in August full time. The Presidential Scholarship and College of Engineering Scholarship have helped tremendously. Camp 1831 sounds fun. I wish I could go too!

This is not my child, but I’m posting the link so that people can see what UA students majoring in the arts can accomplish.

Posting for another:

A Bama student just found out she got a PERFECT SCORE on the LSAT…

Less than 0.1% of all LSAT test takers earn a perfect score.

Wow, congratulations to her. Do you know where she plans to attend law school?

^^^^ i don’t think she’s decided yet.

I just returned from my daughter’s (UA Class of '16) Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology graduation in Dallas. Because of UA’s practicum, she was able to graduate a semester early. She received 3 job offers on Monday, then graduated on Saturday. She was recently engaged to a young man she met at Bama, (Class of '14). The wedding is being planned for Spring of 2019. And lastly, my RI nephew will be joining UA’s class of '22 in the fall. Roll Tide!
