And I think it is important to add that Hugo has been admitted.

Thanks. It’s not the early incomplete issue that worried me. That was rectified quickly enough. It’s this new “pending review” status that is concerning. Seems like not a lot of applicants receive this message before they are admitted. Worried that it could mean a deferral is coming. We shall see.

but i am not sure as to why they would make this status at all if they knew they were going to defer us

Not to worry, getmein12. Certainly not a rational worry on my part. Just paranoia talking!

so is there any update on anyone who has received this message and been accepted?

getmein12, I have the same message

it now changed from “get you a decision in just a few weeks” to “We will try to get you a decision soon”

My D’s status has had pending notice since last week and changed yesterday from “few weeks” to “decision soon”. Deferral letter received in mail today.

What was the date of the letter and where do you live?

The only thing holding me back from thinking this message means deffered is the fact that pink pig said she got it before her acceptance, but maybe she was talking about the complete message? In a rational view what do you guys think about this message

My son got his deferral letter today. We live in Maryland and the letter was dated Dec 7. Status still says the same thing on Gibson…he has a 32 ACT composite and a 4.10 GPA but showed no interest in Tulane.

Letter dated Dec 6, live in PA. Decision not wholly unexpected.

same message, got my deferral letter today, 3.9 GPA 2300 SAT, 2 sport varsity athlete. Zero demonstrated interest.

has anyone had their Gibson status changed to “deferred” or are we all just sitting here waiting for the letter to tell us the bad news?

Basically, if you haven’t gotten a decision already, you’re getting deferred. This has been pretty clearly established. If you demonstrated interest and/or wrote the Why Tulane essay, you probably got accepted. If you didn’t, then you’re most likely getting deferred, as Tulane is a school that really cares about people wanting to go there and not just keeping it as a backup.

My child wrote the “Why Tulane Essay” and showed interest. We drove 40 miles to a College Fair where Tulane was being represented. Due to a family function, we could not make the local Hotel presentation. The Admissions Counselor came to the High School. My child was the only senior to attend the presentation. The three students who got it, did not.
