Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

^ You probably already know not to put them in the dryer. You may be happy with the Tina Tee. They are of a slightly heavier weight than most leggings and camis. Probably won’t be too great in warmer weather though. I just ordered more colors. My DD is very big on them right now.

I was excited abou the J Crew thinking I could get her a dress on sale. She has really liked some casual J Crew dresses for school this past year but the styles just don’t seem right for high school, more for a professional office. DD makes me laugh. She and her friends wear skirts and dresses virtually every day to school. Not sure where this came from. I tend toward jeans . . .

Bromfield, are the tiny holes near the bottom of your tees right in the front? That has been happening to me too and it’s driving me crazy. One of my theories is that maybe the zipper of my jeans is somehow rubbing and making the holes. But the zipper doesn’t stick out so that doesn’t make sense. At first I thought it was just a fabric quality problem but now it’s happened on so many shirts of all different brands that I am truly mystified.

Oh and I had a great marathon bargain shopping session yesterday afternoon with my friend who is also my attorney. She bought a ton of work clothes and I played Stacey and Clinton. I had great fun and didn’t spent a penny.

Clothing with spandex/elastic should never go in the dryer; thanks for the reminder, sewhappy. I wash my Wolford tights and other stuff and just hang it in the master bathroom overnight to dry.

Apparently, Macy’s was having some sort of a sale yesterday when you could “pre-sell” (pre-buy?) a lot of things that never go on sale, like Coach purses, pay for your items 20% less, but with one catch - you have to come back today to pick them up. I got some nice RL jeans for $32 in my size (2-32) that usually sells out quickly. The pre-sale usually means the same discount will apply during the sale. Macy is also having a shoe sale: 15% off 1 pair, 20% off 2 pairs, or 30% off 3 pairs. Oh, and if you are shopping downtown Seattle, don’t forget to ask for the 10% visitor discount. A Macy’s SA told me that they have this special discount for out of towners to somewhat compensate for the 10% sales tax (no worries, WA is not losing its share because the store still collects tax on the discounted amount).

Sewhappy, thank you for the Tees by Tina suggestion. I am going to order some of them for my daughter, waiting to hear back from her on color choice. I just got off the phone with them and was thrilled to learn that 100% of their apparel products are made in the USA, even more reason to give them a try!

Yes, that was also very nice that they are US made. I stumbled upon Tees by Tina in the nearby town of Princeton in a cute lingerie shop. They were having trouble keeping these leggings in stock. You can tell they are made in the US. They have some substance to them.

Maybe we need a thread for products we like that are “Made in America”.

Now that would be a great thread, you should start it since this was your fab find!

Went to Sears to return a Lands End purhcase. While there I saw that many things were on clearance for $2.99! I came home with 2 cotton blouses, one pair of cotton slacks, one pair of jeans, one pair of jean shorts for myself, and one cotton polo for one of my sons. The total on all of this was under $18! Nothing that I bought for myself listed for less than $38, and the polo for my son was orig. $32.

Lands End also had a few items on clearance for 6.99, but I did not find anything on their clearance rack.

^Wow! You scored at Land’s End–:).

Well, I scored at Sears, but not in the Lands End department today (I have gotten bargains there in the past). It was amazing!

^^ Great deals!

Excited to visit a large outlet mall tomorrow - I know “Outlets” aren’t always exactly that, but still hoping to find a couple of things to share on this thread!

One of the stores there that I have never been to is called the “Oops!” store - anyone ever been? What do they have? How are the prices???

I misunderstood. I thought you found the bargains in the Lands End section within Sears.
Enjoy your new purchases.

My kids drove home from college for the weekend to celebrate their Dad’s birthday. Tomorrow, I’m taking one kid on a quest to find khakis and a nice shirt or two. He informed me that he needs to look “somewhat” nice for a presentation in a class on Monday. He has to do an “elevator pitch” on a video production idea he plans on shooting for his capping project. I find that it’s so hard to find khakis that fit slim guys. Any suggestions?

We have had good luck finding slim fitting khakis at Kohls. Also JC Penney used to have them too.

For really slim…try Express or Banana Republic (a little more costly but the fit is good).

^^My kids wear average waist sizes that you can find that anywhere, so I have no idea. Enjoy your weekend with them!

Cross posted with thumper. I am glad that she has some ideas for you.

Saw slim khakis at Old Navy today. Of course, I offered khakis and button-downs to my son, but he would only purchase 3 pairs of loose fit jeans and a couple of long-sleeve Ts. Seems to think that anything nicer is “trying too hard”. Huh?

Thanks. I think we’ll try our luck at Tanger Outlets. They have J. Crew, Old Navy, Express, and a bunch of other outlet stores there. If we don’t have any luck, we can always try Target on the way home. He wears a "31 waist (give or take the cut). The problem isn’t so much the waist, but the width of the legs.

For those with tiny holes in knits at waist level: Do you have stone counters? I always try to wear an apron in the kitchen; otherwise, I get these holes like DH, the family cook. I think the underside which feels smooth to the touch causes the holes.

Consumer reports just did an article on the outlet stores and shopping centers. It was far less favorable than I had hoped.

Jym, IMO–the outlet stores at Tanger are not for people looking for a bargain. For us, it’s more of a convenience because there are more stores to choose from in a relatively small area. We don’t live in an area near many shopping choices. I do most of the clothes shopping online.

I just bought a heavy-duty Kitchenaid waffle maker from Overstock for $135, list price $249, Amazon price $199. Free shipping.

I had a 10% discount from an email (had to click through and can only be used once) and $15 in “rewards”.

nysmile, my son is a 30 inch waist with very slim legs. He loves the fit at Express.
