Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

I’ve used restaurants.com several times, at a variety of locations, different price points, etc. No problems at all. Do read the fine print, each restaurant has it’s own restrictions, so it’s best to know the details up front.

The flip video camera is on sale for $90 at woot.com today.

I found a replacement light fixture at stockblowout-dot-com for about 80% less than the local lighting showroom charges. I hope that site is still around when we’re able to do some serious remodeling/redecorating.

I had something stolen from my front hall last week. I was able to buy a replacement on ebay for 10.50, that includes shipping. I was only looking because I wanted to see if my stolen item was there!

Found DD $800 Badgley Mischka long dress the night before her senior vocal recital…Looked beautiful on her…$129…Thanks TJ Max

Our TJ Maxx has bare racks and definitely no designer dresses anywhere in sight. Went to Petsmart last night to get a scratching post for the kitten - no luck. All the good ones were gone. The shelf with litterboxes needed serious restocking, too. It looks like some stores are really low on inventory, at least in my neck of the woods.

Sorry you struck out BunsenBurner…TJ Max we were at was 20 minutes outside of Boston…They had a section titled RunWay…DD really liked this yellow flowing gown…(not really suitable for her performance)…beautiful none the less…Didn’t look at the tag until after she tried it on…Originally $5000 and was on sale for a mear $500…(choking sound)…

I’ve decided I need to make at least a trip a year to the East Coast to visit TJ Max there…Ours never has anything nearly that nice in it…After showing the dress to her friends at school they all said…yeh we go there all the time to buy designer jeans…May have to make one more trip for jeans before she heads home after graduation Next month.

Cheap wine at $2.99/bottle, I am not a wine snob! “Golden Gate Vintners” at Shaw’s Supermarkets.

Our good buy of the day: a 30-year fixed mortgage @4.5% - finally closed last week.

opera-mom, there is not a single TJMaxx with Runway in the entire WA! They probably decided that the local socks-and-sandals crowd does not need one. :(

Bunsen that is more that a good buy, that is a fabulous deal!!!

our 2003 Ford Taurus SES with 200 HP DOHC engine. Purchased certified pre-own in 2006 with 22K miles for about $10K. It just passed 90K miles mark this week. The only thing wrong was a deal blower motor. DIY replacement with a $90 part. Knock on wood.

Regular oil changes and other maintainance works. 5 more years to go until DS finishes college. Hope it will hold until then.

PS. we also just refied at 4.625% with $300 fee.

Dropped some stuff off at Goodwill today so did some shopping while I was there. Tuesdays are senior citizen discount day. The place was swamped.
So my good buys were a Gap polo shirt, a cute Liz Claiborne knit shirt, a pair of white Lee Jeans capri pants and three books for summer reading…all came to a grand total of $11.37…and no, I did not get the senior citizen discount!

Congrats, BB! Now that’s something to celebrate.

PackMom, my sister does unbelievably at Goodwill. She always goes in on Tuesday or Wednesday and that seems to be the best bet. We don’t have that option around here. She buys Stuart Weitzman shoes for $2.49. Ridiculous.
Congrats BB we refied a property last year at 4.45 but it isn’t fixed.

I got two very nice Coldwater Creek dresses…$4.99 each…they were the half price tag color. Woohoo. AT GOODWILL.

I was inspired by these posts so stopped at Goodwill but, ugh, too many clothes sorted by color instead of size. Instead I went down to the housewares section and got an illustrated copy of Treasure Island in perfect condition for 75 cents, a great swivel computer chair for $6 and a cute little spiderman lunch box for 75 cents. I send my son cookies at camp and usually send them in a tin but will use this instead.

Then I went to Bon-Ton, a local department store, to get a dress shirt for my husband. He needs a certain kind of shirt that was on sale. Got that marked down from $40 to $16 with a coupon.

My good buy of the day, imho, was something that I was NOT looking for, but stumbled across. Bon-Ton has Clark shoes, one of my favorite brands and I saw some pairs on the clearance rack. Next to them were some Born clogs. They looked kind of funky so I tried them on. Oh my goodness - they were sooo comfortable that I had to buy them. The sticker price was $90, marked down to $35.50! I’m going to be picking out clothes so I can wear these everyday!

I decided to try “name your price” for a hotel room through Priceline. I’ve always been skeptical, but figured no loss if they didn’t accept it. I got a room (suite) that should have been $182.00 for $50.66, including taxes and fees. Needless to say I’m hooked!

GA2012mom, Good for you! We caught a couple of good deals through Priceline. Another CC poster pointed out to me that the best hotel deals through them are those in cities or just outside of a city rather than motels in more rural areas. We found this to be true.

I love Priceline but a couple of warnings. Stays arranged through Priceline don’t count towards points totals in frequent stay programs. Also, you may be automatically booked into into a king room and the hotel will then add a surcharge if you ask for a double upon arrival, if you book through Priceline.

My H was going to a conference in Orlando (at the Convention Center off International Blvd). The hotel by the convention center was over $200/night. So he figured he’d stay anywhere. Put in 3 1/2 stars, bid $50… and got… the hotel by the convention center!! The problem with the more expensive hotels is you have to pay for parking, internet, etc, but the convenience was great!!
