$20 Rebate through Heineken USA. Found rebate forms on the beer cooler at our local Stop & Shop. Cover says $20 rebate with $70 worth of groceries and 2 twelve-packs of Heineken/Amstel Light. BUT…in the fine print, the following states only, NO BEER PURCHASE REQUIRED. So Heineken is essentially rebating you $20 for buying groceries. States = AL, AR, CT, HI, KY, ME, MO, NC, NJ, NY, PA, UT, WV.

Got a similar $15 rebate last spring from Heineken with no beer purchase.

I have discovered that I really like McDonald’s coffee. More than D 'n D, more than Starbucks. It’s just terrific straight up black in the afternoon. Along with the ice cream cone. The coffee is a buck for any size (I get a small). The ice cream cone is $1.50. :)

Hot tip–if you are 55 or older, you qualify for a SR coffee at McD, which is slightly cheaper. It was 35 cents but has crept up along with everything else, but still <$1.

are websites you join by providing your email address, their specials change daily or weekly and you can get a great deal if what you need is what they are offering.

There is a separate thread on AARP and the discounts/membership benefits. I was ambivalent about renewing my membership as I really don’t use it and am not enamoured by their politics and stupid resistence to having older adults driving skills re-evaluated, but I found that by buying $15 worth of “stuff” at Walgreens, I got a free one year renewal on AARP. Problem solved!

I didn’t know that they were against having drivers reevaluated.

I was having problems driving at night, even with new glasses and finally got around to speaking to my eye doctor about it last two years ago. He suggested that I get night driving glasses with a prescription that was a quarter point less than my normal distance prescription and a yellow night coating. I was thinking of decreasing my night-time driving but the new glasses gave me back my sharp vision at night.

At my last eye exam at the registry I tried the test without my glasses and barely passed. I didn’t want the driving restriction. I will definitely have to use glasses at my next test.

I understand that driving skill are different but the concept is the same. Stuff happens as you get older and that stuff can be dangerous to others.

Laws change too - I try to keep up with them in the news but going through the state’s driver ed book every five to ten years isn’t a bad idea.

That’s fantastic about the night driving glasses BCEagle. I will need some of those soon, I think. So far I can pass the driving eye test without my glasses, but I think my days are numbered on that as well.

I have severe eye problems, both with seeing far and near. I have had mono-vision contacts (one eye seeing far, the other close) for four years now, but now the reading eye is SO bad that I have gone to the bi-focal lens for just the one eye. It allows me clear vision while driving in both eyes, yet I can read with just the one lens.

6pm.com has some great clearance on sandals right now- be sure to go through ebates too!!! I like that you can search specifically for your size, brand, color, etc. to find what they have available!

I got an awesome North Face Fleece deal today on 6pm.com

Women’s Khumbu fleece (300 weight) for around $42.00 plus free shipping. I love this fleece. I’ve had one Khumbu fleece for 3 or 4 years now and it’s still in great shape. It’s very warm and cozy and IMO–looks much better than the Denali model. When I saw this model at this incredibly low price, I decided to buy a new one in blue.

I highly recommend the North Face Khumbu women’s fleece. This price is excellent!!!

Yikes I’m thinking about getting one of those North Face jackets! Wish I knew if I should go with medium or large - don’t like things skin tight but don’t like it too loose either (or too long - I’m fussy!!!)

abasket, you could CALL North Face and ask customer service if the particular jacket you’re considering runs large, small or true to size to help you in your consideration. I did that when I was considering a Columbia jacket & the agent was MOST helpful–the size I got was PERFECT (didn’t want to buy & have to exchange for different size).

You can also read reviews of the jacket, to see how others felt about its fit.

Wait until you will see the requirements to renew your CCRP (College Confidential Registered Poster) membership when it lapses after ten years. I heard it will be brutal. Something about posting a before and after CC picture!

PS Did not come here for fun and games only. I am planning to buy my dad one of them spiffy Ultrabooks for his birthday. Can’t buy him a Mac as he would send it back to San Francisco. Come to think about it, that is one way to take a look at the Air Whatever from the Cupertino geniuses. Let your good tips for the best buy roll in!

No, xiggi, no pictures that I’ve heard. However the moderators will want a writing sample, a resume of your ECs for the past 10 years (CC doesn’t count) and then will do a “holistic” admission process based on how many more people they need on the parent forum vs cafe.
As to the mac air–my D introduced me the other day and I’m truly enamored except for the price…
