Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

Jeans and Khakis for the men in my house…price: $10/pair all are Lands End. They were marked down to $19.99 from 29.99 and then they were 50% off the last reduced price. Also one pair of Lands End men’s sandals that were originally 39.99 were $15 (hope that they fit).

Also, if you need sheets, Bed, Bath, and Beyond had bins and bins of sheets, curtains, blankets, shams, etc. that were all reduced and they were stocking the shelves with these clearance items (many many shelves will be needed). I bought one set of sheets and was able to use my 20% coupon. They had a wide variety of pricing and quality.

Echo the Lands End post. Bought DD khakis on the website (landsend.com) for $7.99 each. The best part is the free alterations they do, measured to the .25 of an inch. They will also do a cuff with no extra charge. Free shipping too. And if you have to do a return, for ANY reason, Sears local will do the return. Daughter has paid more for the alterations than the $7.99!!

katwkittens! Thanks—I just ordered two pair!!

Kat, your DD did better than I did! Actually, I just went online and I am not seeing the jean/slack bargains that I got at Sears. Fortunately everything fit, so I don’t have to return a thing! Here are the sandals that I bought for one of my sons:

I was at BB&B today and got a wonderful mattress topper for my daughters bed for a clearance price of $12.95 - the 20% coupon! I should have gone to Sears which was two doors down!

This is better than good buy of the day. I got paid by posting some pictures on my blog. Let’s see how far this will take me.

I booked some flights yesterday to go to see my dad, who is in the hospital. Wouldnt you know it, the fares dropped today. I called the airlines (airtran) and the customer service rep said absolutely, no problem, they could give me credit in my airtran account for the price difference-- so I have $110 to use on any future flight fo me or any member of my family.

And, there was also a coupon available (all you had to do was have it emailed to your email address) for $25 off a flight. It was supposed to be good for flights to/from FL but I’d heard that the coupons actually worked on any flight- so I had one emailed to me and one to my H and we each got $25 off our purchase yesterday. So, got $50 off the ticket price yesterday and $110 credited to my account today. I asked to speak to the cust. svc rep’s supervisor to thank him on her behalf and ask that a note be placed in her file for how kind and helpful she was. Some dislike Airtran, but I have had lots of positive experiences like this with them.

Oh, I forgot to mention that yesterday when I booked the flights to see my dad I accidentally picked the wrong day to fly up. I called airtran and the rep told me I had 4 hrs to change the flight after booking with no change fee. He walked me through it on line b/c there is a fee if he does it. Well, there was some computer glitch (I got a confirmation but an error msg and he couldnt see the change on shis screen) so he took care of changing our flights and then credited back the fee that would have been charged for having them book the flight. Again-- easy as pie and nice as can be. What a pleasure.

jym, so sorry that your dad is ill. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Thank you, NEM. He sounded better today. Hopefully they will spring him tomorrow.

I have found that if you do have any problems & call the web support of most airlines, they will help you & waive the fee they’re supposed to charge. I’ve also found that generally if a mistake & caught and you contact the airline quickly they generally have an unspoken grace period (of up to 24 hours) where you aren’t charged for making changes. It has come in handy for me.

I just bought some tickets for my kids to join us in visiting my SF SIL who is now recovering from surgery & then will continue with her chemo. We have heard did well in her surgery today and we are very encouraged. The silver lining is that she has started having a much more positive outlook on life & has gone from a “half empty glass” person to a “half full glass” person. That has cheered hubby no end. She is also establishing a relationship with my D that she never had before & they find out that they actually like one another. We’re helping plan her visit to LA to see S graduate this May with all of us.

Nightchef found an All-Clad frying pan for $10??? I am so envious!!! I’m headed to Marshall’s tonight!!!

We just bought a mattress this week. We thought we had the best price (ie: Labor Day Holiday) and had it delivered. DH just called the 800 # of this chain a few times and we received a few different quotes for the same purchase. We went back to the brick and mortar store and we presented the quote that was most favorable. We were credited back $130!

Got a nice shirt off a Macy’s clearance rack for $6. I work w/ preschoolers so refuse to pay a lot for shirts to wear to work. Never know what will end up on my shirt but something always will:)

Labor Day Sale at Half Price Books – 20% off everything. Just came home with an armful of $3.00 sale-priced hardback mysteries for $2.40 each.

Buy one shrub, get one free at Home Depot–so two small palms to replace the dead plants in the back yard for $8.

Chicken lobsters are $3.99 in my local supermarket. That’s insane. I feel bad for the lobstermen.

What’s a chicken lobster - a small one? Seriously, I don’t know. But if it’s truly lobster, that’s a steal no matter what size!

abasket–yes, chicken lobsters are the small ones. I think the exact cutoff varies a bit depending on who’s selling them, but at my supermarket it’s <1.25 lb. They tend to be short on claw meat, but they’re very tasty.
