I added physics for presidents, giving me 17 units, and i'll probalby drop either ancient phil, physics for pres (early early early), or rhetoric 10.

After 5 hours, I finally finished. I laughed, I cried, I pondered, and I now have a schedule worked out. At least I think so. BTW, I'm a junior transfer, english major.

Enrolled:

English 45A: Literature in English
English C136: Topics in American Studies: The 1950's
Anthropology 162: Forms of Folklore
Scandinavian 106: The Works of Han Christian Anderson (fairy tales, yay!)

Wait List:

Anthropology 138A: History and Theory of Ethnographic Film

Pending CCN by e-mail:

De-cal:The Lyrics, Art, and Music of Radiohead (yesssssssss)

I'm planning to shop between the anth 162, anth 138a, and scand 106 courses. I'll drop one or two.

<3,

Yum, radiohead- hopefully they offer that in subsequent years. Do you have a link to it?

here's the link to all the approved decal classes. i want in on the poker/blackjack class :)

http://www.decal.org/current.php

I think the De-Cal classes change by semester since they're student run courses. Some popular ones will return, but theres no real answer. It's weird, to get a CCN, I had to send an email with my info, as well as why I wanted to take the class, and which songs were my favorite.

I hope I'm cool enough. I want my CCN!

<3,

Yeah I am super excited for my decal class. Im taking the atheism one. Should be very interesting.

ughhhhhhhhhh i have no math class, what the hell is that about man...? they should open more classes!

currently my schedule is all reading-type subjects:
econ1
french1
ias45
pacs10
rhetoric r1a
total is 21 units.

i may drop ias45 or pacs10 eventually, or change one of them to pass/not pass.

will the open another math class? sob.

my goodness...why on earth would you want to add a math class?

lefay, take it easy. cal is hard. don't bite more than you can chew.

no if i add a math class i'd drop possibly one or two of the subjects.

what math class do you need, lefay ?

lefay~

some of the other people are telling you to "take it easy" because we all the competition at Berkeley is going to be tough, especially if you're international. We are all accomplished high school students, but things are different in college. I know that you want to do well, but be mindful of the fact that EVERY ONE of the kids in ALL of your classes are shooting for A's, too. I know I'm taking French 1, too, and you're 'going down' if you're in competition with me. Whether or not that happens, who knows, but be wary that all the other kids are thinking the same thing. It's nice that you want to excel, but just take it easy. It only takes one semester to screw up your next four years. There's absolutely NO reason to be taking so many units at this point in time. Granted, I don't know you and I believe there are people out there who can handle that workload. In the end, you're the only one who really knows what or what you can't take. However, it's best to be cautious and err on the side of safety especially if you haven't been in the country! Best of luck,

TTG

twit - math1a...the pre-req of all pre-reqs.

ttg and the rest =) actually i think i am probably going to drop one of these subjects which would bring me to abt 17units..i just signed up for them since theyre so limited anyway and i havent a clue wat i like/dislike/will drop. my scholarship requires me to take a minimum of 15 units per sem just fyi. thanks for the advice, really appreciate it. i'll keep it in mind.

i'm taking...

chem 1a
math 1a
econ 1
freshmen seminar

...for a total of 13 units.

geez i feel like a slacker or something with people taking 15/16+units. but whatever. more time to party! :)

IT's a smart move, not slackerish. The only reason that taking more would be better is "shopping" for classes or aiming to get out of Berkeley ASAP for whatever reasons.

Seriously...I'm at 14.5 units currently (plus an additional 2 because of the waitlist), and with all the things I want to do at Berkeley (as in activities ** outside ** of studying and going to class) I don't feel like a slacker at all! :)

~What scholarship, lefay? I have two scholarships that both require me to have 13 units, but I have never heard of 15 units, only that one must maintain full-time status. But, by all means, do what the scholarship people tell you...but you're still over 15!

thats why you AP out of calculus schmouculus cuz the AP test is easier than the Cal class. 60% get 5s in BC! IS THAT NOT THE SWEETEST CURVE EVER!?

it's an int'l govt scholarship. i must maintain 15 or more units per semester, preferably graduate in less than 4 years and maintain decent gpa...oh joy is me. Hahaha... =P

Um, sleepisabliss, are you sure about this? I thought the number of "5's" is more like 10-15%. Post the official numbers, please.

sleepisabliss is right about the curve being not too bad, although I believe it is more like you only have to get 60% on the test to get a 5. The actual distribution for Calc BC according to collegeboard is around 40%.

the percantages you refer to, DRab, apply more to the science ap's (ie: physics http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/physics_b/dist.html?physicsb)
