Now that we have all applied to Vassar, I'm curious to hear what everyone did for their "My Space" submissions (if anything at all).

What did you do? And did you get in?

Now that we have all applied to Vassar, I'm curious to hear what everyone did for their "My Space" submissions (if anything at all).

What did you do? And did you get in?

My son sent in origami earrings - he wrote about folding origami for his essay as well.

He got in.

I sent in a script I wrote for my TV Production class.

Haven’t gotten the letter yet, but I can’t login to the website, so either rejected/waitlisted.

I sent in a couple of essays (humorous, insightful ones), and an alternative resume. The latter included quirky, funny facts about myself that I felt made me stand out (for example, “Olympic Level Gift Wrapper and Christmas Tree Decorator” and “Love to dance in the rain–or nearest lawn sprinkler”). Oh, and I included an article I wrote for a national magazine when I was 15. Nothing too extraordinary, really.

I got in! :)

Mine was fairly tame – I created a document with three of my best poems and a little note to the readers:

“these are some of my poems. sometimes i write four poems a day and don’t edit any of them. sometimes i write one and edit it for three weeks. i hope you feel them.
but i digress! onward:”

Reading other people’s My Space ideas and submissions made me really nervous, but evidently it worked well enough!

I sounds like you all were very creative!
I especially love the origami idea, esspecially because it correlated with the essay.

For my submission, I covered an entire canvas with little things that make me who I am such as quirky things I do, things I like, where I grew up, what I believe, things that make me diverse, etc. Then in the middle, I had a big circle that I filled with photos of myself, my family, my home, and things that are important to me to make up a sort of world or globe. Then at the bottom of the canvas it read “Welcome to my World”.

But I guess it wasn’t as great as I wanted to to be, I mean I was rejected after all. ;)

i sent in a memoir i wrote about my family home in Wisconsin that we had to sell a couple years ago. I talked about the smells of the house and how each scent brought back a different memory. i was accepted :)

I made an electronic poster comparing myself at 18 years old versus myself at 2-4 years old. It had pictures, fun facts, etc… I thought it was a good way to share my personality in an interesting way and show how I’ve changed.

I was accepted. :)

Wow, you guys did a great job! I considered leaving the space blank because I didn’t have time to create anything new. I just sent in a poem I had written for my English class.

I did get in.

Poem. It had a:
I am (insert detail about self)

layout and it was about 20 lines. My main essay was about being gay in my conservative hometown. I gots in! I have bad stats but I’m so happy!

didn’t send one =)
(got in anyway)

Didn’t do it.

Got in. Was going to send in some recordings of my band’s music but we didn’t finish our editing in time.
