16 units and a part-time job?

Hi, I was wondering if it’s possible to take 16 units and have a part-time job at school?

This fall will be my 2nd year at a CC and I will be working as a supplemental instructor. The reason why I’m taking 16 units is that I want to transfer next fall with 60 units. I was told by the S.I. program coordinator that this position is like taking a 5-6 unit class. I will be working 10-hours a week, planning lectures with the professor, and meeting up with students 2 days a week.

I’m nervous because I really don’t want to stay another year, but I’m scared that I will fail my classes if I take on this load. A part of me thinks I could possibly do it because the classes aren’t deemed hard, but it’s probably going to be hell when finals season arrives. The only good outcomes to staying another year are transferring to a good school and graduating with honors.

I really don’t know what to do and I need advice :frowning:

FALL 2018 SCHEDULE:
-ENGL 280: creative writing (3)
-LIT 260: English lit through the 18th century (3)
-BUS 136: human relations in business (3)
-BUS 147: personal finance (3)
-COMM. 105: race, gender, and media studies (3) - retake
-DNCE 140: ballroom technique I (1)

GPA: 3.4

Definitely possible if you manage your time.

I worked 20 hours a week with 20 units that consisted of all stem classes and I had ROTC and I managed to not only survive but do pretty well in my classes. It’s all about time management and decision making (studying instead of going out)
