I’m wondering if the college I apply to will look down on me not being “full time”. I have like 80+ units now. I’m not missing anything. Any class I take will be useless to me, but I’ll take another one if they prefer full time.
I don’t know. I think you should go with 12. It might definitely be a factor with UCLA and Berkeley, since they like seeing grit. And if you TAG, it may disqualify you.
I took 6 classes last semester. If that isn’t enough of a demonstration for them, then they can [deleted scene]. Even if I took another class, I’d only be at 11 units since they’d all be 3 unit classes. Do you think 11 would be enough for them?
Ok, I’m only mentioning worst case scenario (or as auto-correct said, worst case scampi).
There are people going for years at CCC part-time. Just make sure to explain part-time due to working full-time, or whatever the situation is.
You are fine. Do not take anymore units then you need to. All UCs want to see is that you have fulfilled either the IGETC or L&S requirements. I tagged with only 2 classes planned for this semester, and got accepted. Why would they want you to waste time taking classes you don’t need?
It’d just be completely useless, and I wonder if my time would be better spent focusing on the ones I have right now even those these are all “for fun” too. Although I really have nothing better to do. So do you think 11 units looks better than 9 units?
Also I tagged with UCD and that agreement is already void because I go to a very low income, rural CCC that doesn’t offer the classes I said I would take. Worst case scampi I’m now double the void.
And I don’t know, Thiger. They liked wasting our time by forcing us to take like 30 units of classes that don’t pertain to our interests.
Yes, UCD will void a TAG that isn’t full term. I will be honest, taking even 11 units looks better because it looks like you have a thirst for knowledge and are bettering yourself. Yeah, haha, but they like seeing that.
Maybe there is a business class you could take or even a humanities P/NP? If you have nothing better to do, I would do it. It provably won’t make a difference but might give you a “brownie” point – to go with the scampi.
Yeah, I feel like it’d be better than worrying about it.
The options I have that are still open:
English Lit II.
Macro Economics.
Business Communications.
Any of those seem like good fillers?
Macro won’t be a walk in the park, esp. if you want easy or fun.
i’d go business communications. If you just want a substantive class that won’t tax you.
Also, I think you need to take macro and micro as a sequence (but I might be wrong).
English is good, too, but more reading.
It really boils down to what you feel comfortable with.
Whichever class you choose (though I personally don’t think it’s necessary), you should take it for pass/no pass. That way you won’t have to really stress about it, and all you have to do is pass it and it won’t affect your GPA at all.
I think all three of those classes are important.
English Lit 2nd semester is a requirement for transfer.
Macro Economics is a worth taking because the ideas come up often in policy.
Depending on the professor Business Communications can be a really good class. My class the tests were 100% test bank questions so they required a lot of memorization and it was kinda impossible to study for them/ Luckily most of the tests were open book. On the flip-side the memo writing & business reports were great skills that I learned. Overall it was a more practical class than English IRL.
I think I’ll do that, @2016Candles. Thanks for the suggestion.
English Lit is different than College Composition and the Critical Thinking (English) courses which are what my college uses for IGETC.
I was gonna pick Business Comm. but weirdly enough it has some kind of Business prerequisite so I couldn’t register. Didn’t think that was possible for an “Intro” class but whatever.
Thanks for your advice everyone.
