Umm, you have a lot of time to drop a class… so if you think you can’t handle it, drop it by all means, after experimenting with everything. Why are you taking University study, w/e? Might as well take bio seminar then.

And I don’t know if you should wait til winter for taking math 2A…

From those courses, i can tell your a bio sci major:). bio and chem are weeder classes, they are tough to get a good grade. If you have a good background with those classes, just stick to your scheldule. You can drop off math 2a within a week if the work load is difficult. Remember your freshman year is your time to adjust from high school and to have a social network with freshman peers and know your niche. Stick to having the universtiy study. Those type of classes are very exclusive to freshmens only and it can be only enrolled up to 3 classes per year. So take advantage of that cause you’ll get to meet one-on-one professors along with a small class for fun discussions. This is not all about academics now, you have time to join clubs, enroll classes at the ARC, get active in irvine, friends, etc.

Like everyone else said you can see how it goes for a week and drop, but if you want some opinions, I think that is a very packed schedule unless you are very solid in science and math. Either way, I guarantee writing will give you tons of work to do and your bio class will have tons of reading, and chem+math lots of problems to do. So even if you’re really good in all of them, there will be lots of work to keep you busy :)

the bio and chem are not weeder classes in that they are super hard. they are weeder classes in the since that they aren’t COMPLETE JOKES, (although they are pretty sad) and kick out the kids who shouldn’t be doing science…
if you are fairly competent and don’t slack off (a huge amount) then none of your core classes will likely be difficult. the uni studies class, i cant tell.

Well the point is you might not want a huge load fall quarter so you have a chance to get used to the new system and see how many units you like to have.

But if you’re asking if bio 93 is harder, I will tell you that I think 94 is much easier than 93 (evolution in 94 vs dna stuff in 93) and spring quarter you do not have bio at all, so you will have time to take the other classes you wanted.

If you keep on top of it that quarter will be fine. Chem isn’t bad and Bio is easier than AP bio but if you are like a lot of incoming freshman and go crazy with all the freedom you have the quarter could feel quite packed.

I think you should drop math 2a and take it in the winter. Taking more than 14/15 units in your first quarter. Just take bio, chem and writing and if you want a laid back uni studies class, do it.
