It is very possible to do that. Indeed, I took 20 credits most of the time and did very well. Just be prepared to study a lot and spend many hours at the library. Please keep in mind that lower level classes might be easier, but you still need to spend some time doing lots of HW. Language classes are time consuming.

Also calc1 (is David Collingwood going to be your instructor?) requires many hours of studding. I know few friends who studied 5 hours a day and didn’t do well at all. 2 didn’t pass exam. Also, if you are taking his class, then you will get tons of HW, and yes you need to do well in them since they are going to be a big part of the final grade.

It looks like you’re not admitted to CSE yet so I would think twice before loading yourself up with credits. Instead, focus on getting really good grades in cse143 and the calc series.

It’s possible, yes. I’ve done 19. I would advise against it for your first quarter. I planned on a similar schedule but dialed it back a bit for my first quarter and I am glad I did. After you’ve settled in and have a better sense of what your course load will be like and what your extracurricular life will be like, it’s much easier to take on a tougher course load.

If I were you I would not do CSE143 in a quarter where you’re taking an overload. I’ve heard that it’s a big step up from CSE142, and it’s crucial that you get a good grade in 143 if you want to get into the Comp Sci major.
