2006 Fall Semester OFFICIAL UPENN transfer Applicant Thread!!!

What do you guys think that the applican pool is really going to be like? I mean, is this CC forum really representative of the average transfer applicant? Also, I know that there are different acceptance rates for different schools within Penn, but do think you're put at an advantage/disadvantage when applying to more/less popular majors?

um...u will see when decisions come out, a large percentage of the CC pop gets into these schools, u will see
look at last year's archives, there were like 10-15 that got into Columbia, and Columbia only accepts like 80 out of 1000 ppl, the CC pop is not representative of the entire pop, it is much higher in stats/credentials

I don't think your major affects your chances. Like you already said, the school that your applying to within is important.

Its Penn, so it should be competitive. I dont know if its like this in general, but it logically, I think the transfer applicant pool should be more competitive, as students now know what theyre looking for specifically, and as a result, apply to less schools and put more time into the application and whatnot. However, I guess one can argue that a great number of amazing students are already in their college of choice and won't consider transfering, so that may equal it all out. I don't know.

If CC really represented the average transfer applicant, I wouldn't apply to the schools I'm applying to :P

I have a question...has anyone still not gotten their pin yet?

i still havent gotten my pin. i havent received any notification that they received my app yet. is that a bad thing? im sure they have lots to file through.

Good, I thought I was the only one. I emailed them about it...let's see how that works. If I don't get an email by wednesday, I'll call.

yeah, i emailed, got not response, then called. they kind of tried to make it sound like there either was no pin, or we'll hear about it later. they also said again that there'll be no notification that they've recieved your app, only if things are missing.

I received my pin - you can't do anything with it until they release decisions. It's different from other schools where you can check to see if your application is complete. I would give it a couple more weeks and then call to say you haven't received it.

when did u get ur pin carrot

Would it be smart to call and ask if they recieved all our things or should we wait for them to contact us if they are missing anything? Because I thought the pin was for seeing if your app is complete...

I received it almost a week ago.

The pin doesn't show whether your app. is complete. Its only purpose is for checking your decision in a month or so.

Transfer application checklist:

Decision Wbsite PIN will be sent by US mail no later than april 25th. Decisions can only be accessed if you have a unique email....

OK, no problem then. I guess it makes sense since they start notifying ppl Early May.

its May 1, rolling from then, it could be up May 1, 2, 3, etc...20

yea, last year some pple found out as late as may 23rd. sigh

how soon do you had to have submitted your application for may 1st? i'm guessing i'll find out middle of may.

Technically, I was late. I sent it out like 3.45 AM March 16th Eastern Time. But hey, if anyone asks, I was in Cali cali

It sucks about the 23rd though. :( Oh well, its not like Im expecting any thing. gl

were you still able to submit it online?

Yeah, I didnt have any problems... I doub theyll penalize me for that, but in retrosepect, I shoulda put more effort in to the UPenn app.

i put my heart & soul into the upenn app.. sigh...
but anyways, i'm still waiting for one mid-term grade on thursday. i didn't want to at first, but my mid-term grade report is gonna be postmarked RIGHT on the deadline. sheesh. does anybody think this will affect my decision? or did they not even start looking at apps yet?

I don't think the postmark date will have any effect on their decision. I wish more schools also requested midterm grades! Although getting them together was kind of a pain.
