2006: How Many Colleges Did You Apply To?

What were your grades Tonytt88

I applied to 2 schools (Georgia Tech and a state college as a safety) and have been accepted to both. I'll definitely be attending Georgia Tech.

Mostly flat A's with the exception of having a B or B+ in history all throughout high school.

5 - 2 reaches (rejected and waitlisted), 1 match (accepted and will attend), 2 safeties (accepted)

I only applied to one and got accepted. They were cheaper, gave me the most money, and Im not too terribly concerned about where I go for undergrad.

I applied to ten

17 schools.

5 schools. 2 reach, 1 match, 2 safety. accepted at all. tough decision to make over spring break

D applied to 1 safety and 1 reach EA and was accepted. Then applied to 4 more reaches.
total
5 reaches
1 safety
accepted all

One school ED and was accepted before other apps were due so they were never sent out. If rejected or deferred ED would have applied to 6 other schools which includes 2 safeties.

8 schools
1 safety
rest reaches
got in 4
Waitlisted1
Rejected 3

My D applied to 10 schools. Accepted 5, Rejected 2, waitlisted 3

twenty-one schools. Ten accepted, Five rejected, Two waitlisted, One deferred and Three still waiting to hear from.

9: 2 safeties, 4 maybes & 3 super-reach schools

got into my safeties & 3 of my maybes
rejected from 1 maybe, waitlisted at 1 super-reach school, and rejected at the other 2 super-reach schools

I actually applied to just one- Brown- but I was accepted early decision, and would have had to withdraw my other applications anyway, so I waited and didn't turn in any others.

Had I been denied or deferred, I would have applied to 7 schools altogether:

1 safety school: Bowling Green State University (they offered me a free ride, this was for emergency situations only!)

4 reach schools: Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, and Williams

2 OK-match schools: Bowdoin and Carnegie-Mellon

I know the proportions are a little skewed, but I really wasn't thinking rationally at that point in time...

I am a musician and I applied for the DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) so things are a little bit different than for most of you guys. The audition (performance) is what counts. I applied at 7, was invited for an audition at 5, rejected at 2, waitlisted at 2 and accepted with a full tuition and a stipend and health insurance at the University of Michigan. I got waitlisted at Yale and I am still hoping to get in although Yale doesn't need waitlist-admits most of the time. Especially not this year since the School of Music got a 100 million gift and gives full tuition to everyone. But, you never know:-) I am from Germany and not used to paying tuition at all because studying here is free for everyone. There are some pretty good schools here but I like to study in the US because I was really happy during my Master's at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Congrats to all of you who got in somewhere and best wishes to all of you!
