Katharos: wait, you applied ED to three schools? How did that work?

I only applied to one. My dream school. EA.

I applied to 11 schools and got into 8.

I got into my first choice school, so in retrospect, I didn't have to apply to all of those. But I wanted to make sure I had enough choices! I didn't want to get stuck in choosing between two schools that I didn't like that much, I would have rather been choosing between four or five with two or three I liked a lot.

my parents will only allow me to apply to 3-4 colleges!!

then make sure you choose a good list:

3 matches
1 safety

ciao :P

I applied to 14...
Common app helped a lot and most of the essays I could re-utilize. It still was a lot of work though...

"Rice???

northwestern?
U of Chicago-prolly not"

Those 4 because you aren't sure that you want to apply there. You would write their name down and question (should I apply here?)

There.... now you're at 15.

lol ya thats still a lot... and i guess i'm applying there but probably not duke, jhu, and uchicago.... so thats pretty much it.. AND

how much does each app cost?

how long does it take to write the ssays and make the application complete? do the essay topics come out in the summer?

1. how much does each app cost?
[/quote]

Generally, about 50 bucks. Which is why I wouldn't recommend a ton of schools if you can't get the fee waived.

2. how long does it take to write the ssays and make the application complete? do the essay topics come out in the summer?

I didn't pay as much attention as others do to essays in nearly all my applications (although I wasn't shooting for the Ivy league caliber schools like you. I still spent about an hour writing a good one, after a brainstorm, and much editing. Make sure you have your english teacher look over it and make suggestions. Topics generally come out when the application comes out. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to do the essays and get them completed.

Go over your list again, and ask yourself "why am I applying there?" If the reason isn't because "I want to go there!", then don't apply.

well there are 3 things i look for a lot in a college:
1. campus and scenery.. cool buildings?
2. diverse and cultural diverse environment
3. Easy to get A's ( of course its not easy, but generally based on a curve or grade inflation) I need A's in college!!!

hmm 50 bucks...ok I was planning on writing my app over the summer... but if it comes out in september... that means theres only 1 month to write 20 applications?? I should really limit it down, but I don't know how... -_-

lol, i never really thought about the application fees... my parents dont care about paything though... so its all good... i think i may end up applying to over 10, mostyl reaches/matches... with UF being my safety

I applied to 4

Safety:
Wayne State University

Match:
Bowling Green State University (attending)
Hope College
Michigan State University

Reach:
None.

Ewwwwwwwww, Wayne State.

What were your GPA/scores Drew?

3.2 (upward trend, 3.5 junior year and I've taken every AP available except for AP Calc), SAT 1800 (weird breakdown, 500s for math, 600s for CR and 700s for writing),little to no ecs, I applied as an english major at hope, wayne state, and MSU, and creative writing at BG (switched to lit), and I got into all 4

What's so bad about wayne state? I thought it was a good safety

It's in ghetto Detroit....... that's enough to turn me off. And isn't it a commuter campus?

i applied to 4...got in 3 and waitlisted at 1

It's not in 'ghetto' detroit. I like Wayne State's location. The campus is kind of commuter though.

Applied to 3
