2008-2009 applicants

Just called the Admissions Office. I'm accepted with honors for film production - the admissions person freaked when she pulled up the honors data but said she couldn't say anything and that I would just have to wait... I guess that's exciting!

In response to timely: I have applied to USC and have not heard back from them yet... My creative resume consisted of basically just Film/Video stuff and my NFAA award - that's it.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! My S got in for film production too!!! Saw it online today. We are still leaping around the room! :-)

Oh, and he has an ROTC scholarship that he was assured of if he was admitted...so we only have to pay for room & board. :-) :-)

Between USC and Chapman I have been so stressed checking the admission statuses online.

I really wish they told you when they had all your info for your application and that was the end of it.

Waiting for status updates and seeing other people get in while I'm waiting is so nerve racking.

Chinaski, Where will you go if you are accepted at both USC and Chapman?

Chinaski, did you apply in film production, too? They said on the Chappenings blog that the admissions for film production would be trickling out. How agonizing is that?! I definitely feel your pain!

D received merit award today---Chancellor Scholar award. Does anyone know if this is a pretty good merit award? We definitely think it is! D is waiting to hear from a couple more schools then will make decision where to attend. She has been accepted to College of Charleston, TCU, and St. Edwards. She wants to major in psychobiology. Good luck, everyone!

If I do get into both (which would make me extremely honored/happy/a million other emotions) it would come down to scholarship money (if any) and financial aid rewards.

Both schools seem excellent for jump starting a film career, but both cost A LOT of money.

I'll wait to make that decision when the time (hopefully) comes. =]

P.S. I did apply for production and I saw the "trickling out" blog...it hurts to wait lol.

I got accepted as a psychology major and got some nice merit money too! I'm so excited! I'm still waiting to hear from other schools to make my decision though.

Good luck to those still waiting!

I am a junior at hs and will be looking to apply at Chapman for film production for fall 2009.what are the portfolio requirements are they also looking for pencil sketches like some of the other art schools and what do i need in my Sat and gpa to have a chance?..any advise from all u guys would be great

Just got my acceptance from USC too - I'm not sure which I will choose!!! AHH!!!

Wow, Greg! What a great terrible decision to have to make! :-)

Do you know for sure that you got into film at USC or just into the university? Because don't they send the film acceptance later? I read something about it, but I can't remember exactly.

Just the University. But I'm hopeful about the film school!

Hey guys, did anybody's webadvisor say "decision complete"? If not, does anyone know what that means?

Thanks alot!

gregcotten, if you want to go to a university that feels like a real university, has great school spirit (obviously) go to USC, trust me. But if you're into the whole small quiet campus thing that kinda lacks in school spirit, choose chapman. it's really all about what you prefer, if you plan on going greek, fyi chapman doesn't have houses (in orange it is considered a brothel if you have more than 6 girls in one house, but the frats can't have houses either). if i had been in your shoes, i would have gone to USC in a heartbeat, if you don't get into film this time around, at least you're into the university and then you have a better chance of getting into film next year.

sorry to bash on chapman so much i mean chapman is beautiful, and a lot of people really love it here, i'm not one of them haha, so visit both campuses first. another thing to keep in mind is internships, i have an internship in beverly hills now, another intern is from usc, but basically i have a 2 hour commute with traffic which really sucks. so if you're at usc you're in LA which is basically where ALL the best film internships/jobs are.

another thing to keep in mind- chapman is really really trying to be like usc. i always find it funny that there are always a lot of bitter sounding jokes that compare chapman and usc made by professors, esp. at the film school, and at orientation they were always going on and on about how much better chapman is than "that other school" (usc). i also find it strange that the book i have to use for my screenwriting class is written by a usc grad/professor, and the books i use in my cinematography class are the same ones i used for my cinematography class at usc... that's one thing about chapman i don't like, i always hear how at other universities the students read books written by their own professors... that doesn't happen here much that i know of. another coincidence... chapman has just added another sorority: Kappa Alpha Theta (which i hear is one of the big sororities at USC). basically it seems like chapman is now what usc used to be, university of spoiled children, usc isn't really like that anymore, every year their incoming class is better than the last and now chapman is trying to emulate that trend.

That's a very interesting take, scarletstar89. I did visit both campuses during the summer but I am definitely going back to visit again sometime before May 1st (decision day!).

Good good :] well i hope you pick the college you feel happiest at

CharlieBrown2: I have the same message: "Decision Complete". Not sure why it wouldn't say "Accepted" or "Denied".

Looks like USC is off the list now - Chapman just gave me a Presidential Scholarship!!! ($21,000/yr.)
