I just realized that colleges actually do look at withdrawal history on your transcripts, and I currently have 3 Ws :(

i think it also depends on reasons of withdrawal. i have one W from an American Popular Music class, and i didn’t drop it b/c of a bad grade (i mean, it was an easy A type of class) but only because i actually hated it and realized that spending time on material i didn’t enjoy learning about was more wasteful than focusing more on my classes for my major.

Two of them were dropped because I would recieve no credit for them. One was a bs class which the school honestly just came up with to make more money. They told us that we wouldn’t get credit for it after the add/drop date and that’s when I dropped it since there was no point in taking it (the class came with a package of classes that freshmen were recommended to take.) I dropped the second because I changed my major to political science with a concentration in pre-law and a minor and history this semester and since it was a 2000 level class, I would have to still be majoring in journalism in order to receive credit for it.

The third was actually a history class but I wasn’t minoring in history at that time. Honestly, I had intended to drop the class but I missed the add/drop period by a day (we’re only allowed 3 days to drop a class before you have to withdraw.)

From what I’ve heard, it really doesn’t matter if you drop classes as long as it doesn’t have to do with your major, but what about your minor?

you can petition a undergraduate dean once you’re here. a person i transferred to Steinhardt with was in the same position and she petitioned a dean in person and got them to transfer. your adviser within your department can help you with that.

Hey everyone,

Please confirm/reject the following statement:

Being able create your Net ID with your University ID online means acceptance even if you have not received the official package/letter.

I ask because after reading about it here, I tried to do the same with my University ID and failed. What does this mean?

Congrats to those who made it. Crossing fingers for those still waiting.

All the best,
326

You shouldn’t be trying to get Net ID, NYU has clearly stated this. But, if it doesn’t work it means either they haven’t made a decision or you didn’t get in.

I hesitate to use the word ‘reject’ because of its connotation within this forum, but that statement is not true. There have been a few cases where the NetID worked and a rejection letter went out (or waitlist), or most commonly that the NetID failed to work, and an acceptance came shortly thereafter.

Not being able to create a NetID could mean several things, but most likely that your application hasn’t been reviewed yet. I haven’t been brave enough to try it because of how I’ll probably interpret not being able to make one!

Apart from nyu44, who was already accepted, I feel like I’m the only one here that’s still waiting to hear from Gallatin. Haha

missamericanpie, thanks for that info. But i realized i made a mistake. I forgot they have not evaluated my credits for this semester yet. So I still have 12 credits that have not been added on.

@nyu44

make sure to keep tabs on those credits, it took them a while to apply the credits i had from my last semester. CUNY was so terrible about sending out my transcripts.

and congrats!

i better start planning for next year at my current school haha–a 4.0 cumulative from a solid university, applying for junior placement, and slightly better SATs than mine got rejected? this is wild.

i have about a 3.6, but my school is notorious for grade deflation. i hope that carries some weight.

it was a rough year for admissions all around. a lot of schools are trying to hold onto their current undergrads and more and more people are applying to school because the economy is so bad.

still waiting to hear back!

thomas- Which school did you apply to?

what school do you go to

or what tier school like what are some comparable school your school likes to compare itself to

somebody recieve something today from CAS?

Any letters today ?

i got my acceptance letter yesterday. i applied to CAS for Fall 09 as an incoming sophomore

I´ll be a sophmore too, to CAS I hope to get it tomorrow

Are there any NYU applicant who got admitted from NYU, even though the school did not ask for a midterm report? I assume that a reason why NYU requests a midterm report to certain people is because NYU has more interests on them.
