LOL nick, I’m glad i made you feel a tiny better. And yeah dude this thread is way better than that OFFICIAL DECISIONS berk thread. everytime i see it my brain explodes cuz im like omgnowaydecisions?!?!ohwaitnotuntilthe29th -_____-

edit: i mean in title, not in content :D

…well maybe a little in content, but im sure after the ucla craze is over (after decisions come out) then that berk thread will just blow up

Damn right it’s obsessive. Good forums are founded on good content. This isn’t a chat room–we have time to compose thoughtful, reasoned questions and responses. We have search functions to see if a question has been previously answered. Every poorly titled, redundant, or otherwise bad thread makes it harder to find the good content.

Honestly, the “Official” threads aren’t really poorly titled, they’re just annoying. I’m really talking about the threads with titles like “A QUESTION!!!” and bodies like “Hi guys, so what’s TAP?”

(And on another note, if I had moderation privileges, this post and Victor’s would be split off into another thread: “Improving the Quality of CC Posts”.)

(And on yet another note, I’d change the title of this very thread if I could. It should really be “2011 UCLA Transfer Applicants…” Yes, this is nick_scheu admitting that, contrary to the widely held opinion, he is not flawless.)

(And on a final note… Yes, that was pretty arrogant of me. :-P)

Okay, so for my fin. aid it says incomplete and for my doc. tracking it says incomplete in the red font but it says “complete” in the box with the date 4-15-11.

mine’s the exact same way blackmamba8… from what I can gather, I think for some reason the way we filled out FAFSA we would need to fill out an additional information form if we were accepted.

Please Chance me. I’m transferring from a CCC.
Applying to: Cornell, UCLA, UC Berkeley, USC, Cal Poly SLO, UCSD
Major:UCLA: Materials Engineering, UC Berkeley: Industrial Engineering (IEOR)
GPA: 3.86-3.93, one W in Calculus 1 but made it up with an A, C in Intro Engineering Course(only worth 1 unit, not part of major GPA)
Prereqs: Complete
IGETC: no
EC’s: work 30hrs/week in Manufacturing/Industrial Plant working in Destructive Testing/NDT. President of Engineering Students Association, Physics Club, PTK, Deans List, AGS, some volunteer work in Childrens Shelter as a math/reading tutor.
Engineering Courses Completed: Mechanics, Dynamics, Statics, Intro Java Script, Properties of Materials.
Reason i got a W was because I was having trouble balancing out work and school.
Essay: pretty ok, I’d say 8/10

You’re above last year’s average admitted GPA for materials engineering at UCLA. I’d say you’re in good shape. And honestly, it’s hard to do much better than 3.9. You’re at the very least competitive everywhere.

you are safe for those schools. i dont know about cornell.
btw thats impressive stats. did you finish all your classes in just 2 years? im doing aerospace engineering and my major pre-reqs are exactly the same as your major’s for ucla. it took me 3 years to complete pre-reqs and some engineering classes and GE. i didnt even work haha.
i didnt know there are colleges that offer dynamics and mechanics(??).
not sure what mechanics is…

I signed up for URSA as a new student (first option) with my UC Application ID. Where is this UCLA ID at?? I never received one. I checked the email UCLA sent out stating that they received my application but I couldn’t find a UCLA ID in that email. Eh…

It’s really quite obvious, but I’ve never consciously thought about it: For most of us, the decision is already made. Somewhere, in Vu Tran’s laptop, there’s probably a spreadsheet with a Y or a N next to our names.

Anyone down for a little espionage? I just need 5 minutes with that laptop…

@nick - hahahahahaa oooommggg i’ve never really thought of it like that…espionage is indeed called for. Since i dont know jack about hacking or anything, ill be look out.

Having spent some time in government…Its really striking how much sensitive information is stored on personally-owned laptops. The most recent example was Wisconsin’s Secretary of State (IIRC–it was the person in charge of elections there). She was unofficially tabulating votes on her personal laptop for the media, and missed a whole county.

But yeah, shouldn’t be too hard. I’m sure Tran is a registered voter, and voter files are protected legally but not terribly hard to gain access to.

Hacking remotely would probably be safer. I just need to TCP/IP into the port past the firewalls. It’s a UNIX system…I know this.

I’m really giving this far too much thought…
