Re: CA notification for writing. HippieOtter wrote a couple days ago that winners would be announced potentially as late as 2/7 (giving us hope). However, I cannot find corroboration for this. I just checked the CaliforniaWrites facebook site, and there is nothing since 1/18. I doubt there will be any news tonight. Good luck to the remaining people who have not heard.

Sorry, my post was about the ART competition specifically. I failed to mention that. My friend in writing has not heard anything yet.

Thanks, HippieOtter, for clarifying. We’ll just sit on our hands.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RESULTS/EMAILS ARE OUT! They don’t specify which award you won though.

And it was literally like a few minutes ago, lol

^Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh. I literally cried after refreshing my email and praying that I got a new email from Scholastic. Tears of joy, of course :’)

The email also applies to Northern California (since the entire state’s writing submissions are managed by one entity).

Go check your emails, fellow CA writers! Crossing my fingers for y’all.

Have they notified everyone in California yet? My sister still hasn’t heard any news on her writing pieces and is afraid she didn’t win anything.

Yes, the e-mails went out last night! (I should have stayed up.) My daughter doesn’t even know yet. They keep the suspense going though. One doesn’t know how many or for which entry the keys were granted. Congratulations to all. I have enjoyed sharing this site with you. You are great, supportive bunch!

who else is now pumped to write more!? :D

I am =D Gotta keep working on my novel submission. Anyone else still working on a novel for Feb. 17th?

For those in California (writing) who haven’t gotten an email, keep in mind that the Honorable Mention/ Merit Award recipients have NOT yet been notified. Those results will be available after February 9.

Emails went out to Gold and Silver Key recipients only. They don’t tell you which one you got, because they want you to be surprised at the Awards Ceremony.

I got the email! C: Literally could not stop saying “oh my god” for the next five minutes (this was my first competition, after all).

I’m double-spacing everything. Based on my experience submitting work to literary agents, double space, 12pt TNR, 1 inch margins all around is the norm.

Anyone from Oklahoma hear anything for writing?

Do we really have to double-space the outline? Damn. Now I can only say half of what I wanted to say…

did anybody win anything for art in socal?
I submitted a portfolio (senior)…

i haven’t gotten any emails…does that mean i didn’t win anything?

@Eszebel
Okay this kinda goes back a couple pages but 5 gold keys and 2 silvers and an Honorable mention? Wait aren’t you only allowed to submit 5? Does that differ by region? Did you submit art and writing both? (sorry that was a lot of questions)

@Kimchi, are you in California? They’re sending out honorable mentions soon, but they’ve sent all the gold/silver winners emails last night.

@supine, really? how do you know? does that mean I didn’t win?

@oneten,

I’ve been submitting 6+ pieces per year o - o There’s no restriction to submissions where I am.
