^yes it does not have to be 50 but the closer probably the better

oh good. thanks :)

Is anyone else here planning on submitting a novel?

I’m entering!

Hey guys, so I was wondering- are you allowed to edit your work/info AFTER submitting your forms in the mail? Cuz on the form it shows how many lines there are, so…o.0 HELPPP D:

@kiwisarecool

I have no idea what you’re talking about … “how many lines there are” ?

o_o

but for art pieces, I could edit images and other information for about a day and a half after I sent the form [pretty much until the people receive the forms] if you have trouble, contact your region’s judges immediately! I submitted a ridiculous amount of pieces last year so they recognized my name and helped me fix a small problem with my portfolio this year x_x

good luck!

EDIT: there may not be any immediate reply though… seeing as its the holidays. :[

lolol what i meant was for writing you have to (in the info box) say how many words or lines there are, and that’s printed out along with the registration form. but my number of words changed so i was wodnering if that’s ok

^I’ll be honest, that doesn’t sound good but I don’t know how strict they’ll be, maybe they’ll just ignore it as an honest mistake or something

haha thats okay i’ll juts reprint the form, i was just feeling lazy XD.
also, i have another ?- how do you count poetry lines? do you include the title? XDD THANKS!!!:D

I wouldn’t count the title in the line count, no.

I sent in my forms and then did some edits, so I’m pretty sure there’ll be some disconnects in terms of line counts. Does anyone know approx when winners will be notified for region-at-large?

Is it that hard to win?

I’m doing sci-fi, just curious as I’ve never done it before…

I’ve heard picking obscure subjects (ceramics, jewelry, sci-fi) makes it much easier, and nearly a third of everyone gets some sort of commendation. The interesting part is the Gold keys which forward you to “nationals”, in a way.

I’m just wondering, how are you guys formatting your titles. I know, a really trivial thing, but it is really bugging me. In the center, underlined, bold, plain? I’m submitting a short story btw…

Incorrigible, I’ve never thought it was particularly hard to get a gold key, especially if you’re in region-at-large…my general experience is that if you do happen to be in region-at-large, they give out more gold keys than normal, since they don’t give silver keys or honorable mentions.

ArtsyGal, I didn’t put the title of any of my work in the text editor since you put the title in a separate box anyway…does it say to put the title at the tops of documents?

Is anyone submitting more than one art/writing portfolio? I have enough work to fill two portfolios, but I don’t know if you can submit multiple portfolios…

Thanks.

My story has already won honorable mention at a local contest (not A&W, obviously). I was just wondering if it had a shot.

Hope my story pwns!

Hey guys, if my deadline for submitting the paperwork is January 8th, that means postmarked right? So if I mail it on January 8th, it will be accepted?

@micemen, usually the deadline is the date that the package should be at the office by.

Send it in ASAP!

Micemen, it may depend on the region, but I’m almost positive that the date means postmarked, not received by. That is how they’ve done it every year. (Although I’m region-at-large and I presume you’re not, since my deadline is the 6th and yours is the 8th. If you know your regional rep, you should contact him/her.)
