No state has 64 senators. It is by law that states have at minimum and most only two per state, thus meaning there are 100 senators in Congress.

I am going to be a US Senate Page this upcoming Spring Session starting January 27th, the Senator who chose me is Senator Cornyn the current Minority Whip. To those who want to be a part of the US Senate Page Program or even the US House Page Program you have to be a junior in high school (or incoming junior if you want to do either of the summer programs). It is extremely difficult to find a whole lot of information about this amazing program but I would be more than happy to supply y’all with the information I have gathered.

I noticed most of y’all are concerned with what to put on your resume. Each senator is different when it comes to this historic program and how they bring young adults into this prestigious fold. For me it all started with an email that I sent to Senator Cornyn explaining my earnest wish to become his page and what I could offer him. Months later I received an email from his assistant and within two weeks I was accepted. The application process was simpler than anything I have filled out before. It consisted of a twelve minute phone interview, some paperwork describing all of the activities I am involved in, a short essay, and my transcript.

My most honest advice I would give those who are interested is: email you senator, that is the best start. At least there you can gather more information and maybe eventually an acceptance call to D.C.

My daughter is currently a Senate page for Hutchison. She’s had an amazing experience this fall and gotten to know a number of people in Cornyn’s office as well. You’re going to have a wonderful semester plus you have the distinction of being the first Page Cornyn is allowed to sponsor. :)

I am applying through Senator Cornyn and cannot find his email address anywhere. I have already called his DC office and they said to keep checking the website in the weeks to come. Would you mind pming me and giving me the email address you used? Thanks!

I’m a sophomore this year but I don’t turn 16 until May of my junior year; do you think I’d still be able to apply for my senator’s summer session the summer after junior year? :/

This has probably been discussed before, but I am on a time crunch and can’t read all of the other posts.

I am a junior in HS in NJ. I want to apply for the summer program. What are my chances? In terms of my senators (S. Bob Menendez and S. Frank Lautenberg) actually receiving a page for the summer. Should I apply out of state?

P.S. I meet all the requirements.

Hi I was told that there is no Honors or AP classes at the page school, is this true? This does concern me because my junior year is when my school offers many AP courses.

Hello! Is there a set time to send in applications for the Senate Page Program? Or do we have to contact the senators through their websites?

Im working on my application for Senator Cornyn, His are due the 1st haha(Procrastination)

I literally just found this program tonight haha and the deadline is tomorrow but I am applying! On my application it just asks for a “plain text version of my resume” and I am not sure what it means… Does it want clubs, sports, community service, jobs, etc? Would listing AP Gov on there be a good idea or does it just make me seem clueless?

that must have been tough @Ivygirl. For my application you had to fill out a packet, send an official transcript, 2 Letters of Recommendations from Teachers and write a 500 word essay on why you should be selected but this is for Cornyn in Texas

@ivygirl505 Did you apply to Sherrod Brown in Ohio? I know the deadline was yesterday. I also applied. I applied in like January, so I’m not 100% sure, but I think I put my schedule/GPA/ACT on my resume.

When do people normally hear back?

It depends on the Senator probably. I don’t even know if Brown is sponsoring one second session, but I heard he usually gets one (is this true?). I think I should find out by May, but I hope it is a little earlier since I applied to other programs, too. I am hoping I will hear from them soon; I have been impatiently waiting for the app process to conclude since January, and now that it is done, maybe they will email me and ask for interviews, etc.? I hope I don’t get turned down… I mean, my essay was pretty awesome haha

Nice, I applied for Senator Cornyn(Texas) session 1. Hopefully interviews start taking place soon. I feel like there weren’t that many applicants for Cornyn mainly because you had to email them for the application( I emailed them about it in November and got the app February 1st). Sorry for rambling haha

Yeah, I hope I get news about an interview soon. And you waited for the app for like three months? That stinks I have no idea how many people would apply for Senator Brown (Ohio)… the application was up for a long time and it was really easy to fill out (as in no teacher recommendations, only one short essay, etc.) so I feel like a lot of people could fill it out really quickly. This is random, but in AP Gov we have to research a member of Congress and they were assigned randomly… I got Sherrod Brown. I was literally like “OMG coincidence…?!” I am super excited about the program, though. Even if I don’t get in, it is an awesome experience for those who do.

Damn dude no teacher recommendations. haha Cornyns app needed you to fill out a packet, 1 teacher recommendation, 1 recommendation of a non family member, Official Transcript and a 500 word essay on why you wanted to be a page haha. Yeah I basically gave up then I checked me email and saw it and flipped **** haha

My essay ended up being 499 words, haha. And I think the app was just a primary one, because it said they will contact you if they want you to send teacher recs and (I assume) a transcript. I don’t really know what they look for in these applications… I have a bunch of extra curriculars but nothing directly government related (unless International Affairs club counts…)

Does anyone know when the Senate Page Program applications are due for New Jersey residents?

I applied to Lautenberg and I know the application was due March 1st
