2014 Coca-Cola Semifinalists

Did anyone else have trouble fitting in the names of their activities? Is there any way to get the text boxes on the Questionnaire Sheet to expand, or no?

I don’t think there is >:(

They told us not to use acronyms, but I was kinda forced to.

I was pretty frustrated with the formatting restrictions on the document.

Anyone know how many finalists they will select out of the semi-finalists?

Just shorten the words
Ex: “hon” for “Honor” or “inc” for “incorporation”
:)

I briefly elaborated on all ten things on my list. However, on #4, I elaborated FURTHER and in more great detail than the other nine (about double to the next largest #). Ended with 498 words total.

its wierd this year, instead of the winners winners selected directly out of the semis, there is apparantely a middle stage of interviewing that is BEFORE going to atlanta… so they basically added another stage tht one has to clear…no one knows hte numbers of people tht make it to tht stage out of us 2000 or wahtever… all we know is tht final winner number is 150 or 250… (probs 150 this year)

there will be 250 finalists, and then 150 scholars who will go to atlanta for the scholars weekend

WAIT. The word-limit is only for #4??

@Owlet14 that is correct… it would be wierd for them to have a total word limit which includes a LIST…the word limit is for #4 only as per several people that incquired about it… But to be honest, I dont think they are gonna be as picky about word limits as long as it fits in the space given, they are not going to count it word by word…

Well, my essay included the list and the other descriptions. I hope my formatting doesn’t affect the decision I will get.

@thesportsman24
I formatted my top 10 list the exact same way as you did. Really hoping that is what they were looking for!

Well, at least I’m not alone. :)

@kalanis14
Same here! Hopefully we did it right… Mine was a detailed list, rather than an essay :/

“But limit your response to 500 words or less”
D:

@Owelet14 Join the club with that detailed list, with #4 slightly more longer in detail! Did you not check that your essay was 500 words or less?

@owlet14 @thesportsman24
My essay ended up at 496 or so.
Also, you guys should check out the twitter postings/responses that Coca Cola Scholars Found. has posted on its website concerning questions from many of the applicants. I think they mention one with how you two did it.

When do y’all think we will hear back from Coca Cola?

@tennischaxo
The date I am guessing is either the 13th or the 17th…

Coca Cola posted a list of all the semifinalists from each state today. The list can be found at the link below. :slight_smile:
