2014 MIT Early Action Countdown Thread

I have to agree with kitkatkatie. People’s expectations are making this process even more stressful.

If you were on the phone with a freshman student, then she probably doesn’t know any more than you do what the release date will be.

MIT aims for about a December 15th release every year, but when they can actually release decisions depends on when they get through selecting applications. You will know what the release date is as soon as they do.

Just out of curiosity, do the committees meet through the weekend at this time of the year?

I’m gonna guess and say no, they have so much work on the weekdays as it is and all human beings need breaks.
Also, being a hopeful applicant, I would much rather have them take the weekend off and review my application with a fresh head on Monday and take a couple more days releasing the decisions.

Last year, didn’t they release the date of decisions on the 9th?

So there are about 3 more days! :)

^On the 8th I believe.

i thought it was on the 10th…

There was a blog post on the 8th announcing when decisions would be posted. Another blog post and an email went out on the 10th providing details on how to check decisions.

Here’s an idea, everyone following this thread who IS accepted, we throw a party the week before classes and meet all these people who are as obsessed as we are :]

Haha, a party would be excellent. Now we just have to get in… ;)

If I do get in and choose to go there, then I’ll probably move to the area in the summer, so if anyone’s around, we’ll definitely have a party. My mommy will probably move to Boston with me, since we have no family in the state in which we currently reside, so I’ll have a house or something around Boston (or wherever) to have a 2014 pre-frosh party. Let’s all get in first, though.

Yes, they do. I’m not sure if they meet both days of the weekend all day (I hope they don’t), but they do work through the weekend. (E.g. [this blog entry](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/misc/miscellaneous/selection_day_three.shtml), from 2005).

And by the way, you guys would be welcome to my place – I had a great CC get-together during orientation in 2006. There were cookies and fruit cobbler involved. :)

Mmmm cookies…

And wow. Working over the weekend, even–
Dedication.

That’s some hardcore dedication.

If we have a party (and I get in), I’ll bring vegan cupcakes! :)

I NEED MY ANSWER NOW haha I really hope I get in

This thread is already so much longer than in the other years without the decisions even. Just goes to show how much more competitive this year is. :)

I’m so chill about the decisions though so that’s a good thing. For once I’m not insistent on checking the date and time every few seconds. Saves me a lot of stress.

Yeah… the way I figure it, there’s a very small chance I’ll get in EA. So why even stress about it? If MIT thinks I’m not ______ enough or thins I’m not a good match, whatever. If they think I’m a great match to the school and admits me, AWESOME! It’s all good. :)

There is always some hope…went to several university tours and several of the students directing the tours didn’t get in early action, so even if we don’t make it, there may be another shot.

At this point I have basically resigned myself to being deferred and then rejected. Don’t get me wrong, I would LOVE nothing more than to attend MIT, but it isn’t really that important in the long run. I know that after college I will do and contribute to something that I am interested in, no matter where I recieve my undergraduate education.

That being said, I’m still dying to see the admissions decisions. That ounce of remaining hope can be so painful.

@monjac: I’m exactly at that point. I try to tell myself to expect rejection/deferral then rejection, but it doesn’t work most of the time. Darn confidence. >.<
