@nwoodward: Maybe you could walk over to the admissions office and ask them. ;)

I call making the decision’s thread!!

What do you think they’d say? I don’t think they’d tell me.

In 2008:
EA applicants = 4,681
admitted in EA = 540
admitted in RD = 299
acceptance rate = (540 + 299) / 4681 = 17.9%

RD applicants = 10,980
admitted in RD = 1,057 - 299 (deferred from EA) = 758
acceptance rate = 758 / 10980 = 6.9%

@nospam66: DUDE. I’m freaking glad I applied EA now. >.>

HELLO everyone, I’ve been quitely reading this thread but I have news I cannot keep!!
Go to the link below and you will see that we will be getting our results online at 9PM Eastern Time on Wednesday, December 16!!

<a href=“MIT Admissions”>MIT Admissions;

AAAAHHHHH!

This made me feel so much better:

"We know that applying to college is stressful, and that the closer you get to receiving your admissions decisions, the easier it becomes to let that stress consume you. We encourage you to acknowledge it, embrace it, and then let it go. This is your last year of high school, and your primary responsibility is to enjoy every remaining minute of this journey before you embark on the next.

Think about how you answered question 11a on our application (what do you do purely for fun?). Try to fill your days with that, and decisions will be here before you know it."

I think they care about us. :-)

My D is very stressed. She just pray not to be flat out denied. If she gets at least deferred, she will have some hope. Good luck to all of you!

@Feliz

My S is also very stressed. He has all his hopes pinned on MIT so if he doesn’t get accepted I think he is going to have a difficult time getting himself together to do some other apps. He also is applying early to Chicago, a school he likes, but not as much as MIT, so maybe that will work out.

^ You might want to tell S to do the apps, but not submit them (hence not lose the money) until he finds out his MIT decision. I had all mine done before a decision was made.

And emphasize to him how not going to MIT is not the end of the world. Like, at all :)

Hahahaha wow sorry guys. Apparently I do fail at probability. I was up late, not thinking clearly (obviously) haha.

So is everyone ready for the most stressful 9 days of their life?

@quiteValid… more than 299 from EA would’ve been deferred to RD because all deferred weren’t accepted so the RD rate is probably a little higher

@trf1021: I’ve been stressing for a while; I think it’s time to chill. On that note, I’m having a lot of trouble being productive. XD

Here comes 9 hell-filled days.

Yeah it’s definitely time to chill. The problem is actually doing it. I too, am having a lot of trouble being productive lately. I just can’t stop thinking about it. I’m definitely going to try as hard as I can not to think about and save all my anxiety for the 16th XD

I pretty much have nothing left to say (unless I can somehow find out how many people applied EA, and how many people got in). I just have to wait for next Wednesday.

Ya I’ve been attempting to study for my government test but its been futile. =(

Does anyone have a good “hook” (star athlete, musician, research, etc.) for EA?

@reshaun15
I know what you mean, I’ve been trying to study for a stats test a prepare a speech for my speech class, but it’s been pretty futile as well
