Got the UCSD confirmation email this morning. This was nice to look through: http://admissions.ucsd.edu/next/applicant-fyi.html

Hey folks,

I was wondering if it’s worthwhile or significant enough to try and add to my application that I’m organizing and plan to lead a student research group for and with my professor that’s aim is to explore his research in the Spring-Summer semesters.

I was thinking probably not with how early it is in development and it wouldn’t be bad to have, if I have to appeal later on. Plus I’ll have past tense oomph, I did blah and blah and I found blah, and more information/specific etc… to go with it by then. I believe I’m not missing any of the qualities associated with it on my application either.

What do you think?

Will my TAG be void if I get an Incomplete as an interim grade for this semester? I am planning on getting the letter grade before my Spring semester starts, but I had a lot of issues to deal with and I could not keep up with the final exam. I probably already lost it because I have a few course changes anyways, even if they are GE.

@kamiture it depends on if the class is Stats, or a wide variety of things. Same with course changes. The basic answer is not necessarily. And if you get the incomplete changed before start of spring, it can get added to the TAU in January, so the Incomplete will be irrelevant.

Just wondering, do the UC’s look at your Major GPA more or overall GPA, or both? In my major classes(required and recommended on assist.org) I have a 4.0, but in my overall I am at a 3.843, which may drop to a 3.7 due to a C in a useless class (Zoology).

I believe only UCLA considers major GPA along with cumulative GPA

So the rest generally only consider cumulative GPA? I know for UCSB they say you need to have a 3.6 or above in the major classes.

Thanks so much for the response. I can breathe sighs of relief. #:-S I will have to wait and see.

Hmmm, I’m not sure about UCSB. I know UCLA does, I don’t think UCB does however…

Hmm, alright. I guess we’ll see in April when we get our confirmations whether it really mattered or not.

Agree with @luckie1367 .

Per the UC Application Website:

“The Transfer Academic Update will be available on January 7. All transfer applicants are required to submit an update even if you do not have any in-progress or planned courses.”

So I’m sure it was covered, but when the UC opens back up on the 7th, does it allow you to update the entire application? Meaning, is it basically just unlocked and you get to change anything you want? Or, is it just grades?

@fullload

I remember only some parts of the application could be modified. You couldn’t change grades you inputted unless they were the “in-progress” ones for the fall semester/quarter in which you applied, for example.

cool, thanks. :)

Has anyone received their log-in info for UCLA? I received log-in info for all the other colleges to their respective websites to watch for updates, etc. But I’ve heard nothing from UCLA. How about you?

@fullload I haven’t received anything from ucla, uc berkeley, or uc davis… Has anyone received anything from these schools?

You may have to wait. I received my first email from UCLA after applying on 12/13/13, which gave me log-in information to the portal on their website for transfer applicants. You should be receiving an email from UCLA in the next two weeks or so and maybe as early as this week.
