2016/2017 UT Austin Transfer Thread

anyone applying from the Houston, Katy, Woodlands, Cypress area? just interested because I am!

everyone needs to chilllll, I was I your position last year and I was short 3 credit hours (applying again). don’t spend too much time stressing about what college you go to, success is only there for people with talent and work ethics. Whether you go to UT or any other school won’t change that. Go play some video games, program, draw, hang with friends, or any other things you like to do; because at the end of the day you could walk outside tomorrow, look around at the sun shining and pretty birds and then WHAMMMM! You got hit by a truck :wink:

@utcswannabe I am! From the woodlands area

@Kimberlytori Ayeeeeeeeeee

@utcswannabe Hey!

@utcswannabe i am from Cypress area

@JeyLee Really! I went to CyWoods HighSchool, Class of 2015; What about you?

Just letting everyone know, UT releases their first round of admission decisions around 5/30 (usually a couple of days before too)! (For those who applied with 30+ hours already)

Does anyone know if UT counts my AP credit towards the 30 hours required? I was specifically told by an admissions counselor that it does count as long as it’s on my Lone Star transcript (it is).

However today MyStatus shows a requirement that I submit my final spring transcript. I’m worried because I’ll be at 52 total hours, but only 26 of that will be graded course work at Lone Star.

Other question - is Moody RTF super-competitive? Do they take Spring transfers in RTF if I’m not accepted for fall?

Regarding AP scores, if it has been audited in then it should count towards your hours.

For your moody RTF inquiry, see this:

Thanks for the info. Can you please explain what you mean by “audited in”? The transcript clearly shows the Lone Star courses that the AP tests satisfy, and the credit hours.

But I looked at MyStatus again… It moved my college transcript from the “completed” section to the “incomplete” section saying that I need to submit the Spring transcript.

I’ll probably need to call admissions tomorrow.

Alrighty, I haven’t spoken much over this semester but I just finished my Cal 3 test, so let’s get cracking!

@CyRanchXfer RTF is not that bad to get into. I have friends who got in via CAP with a 3.5 gpa, but you are gunna have to do really well on those essays and I think submit pieces too. All in all, do well make a high gpa and you will be fine (transfer guides should really be utilized). About you AP’s credits, UT is a big school, I get mixed responses all the time. More likely than not, if it wasn’t dual credit it won’t be included in your application at all. UT needs time to interpret your scores, sometime a 3 would work at a community college but a 4 is needed at UT.

If anyone has any more questions, directly @ me. I tried to apply last year and my application was canceled because I had less than 30 credit hours (I applied to CS). I spent a lot of my free time researching about admissions and talking to people like the UT Admissions Guy, and accidentally the dean of CNS about the best applicants (long story). Personally, I feel like my application is really well done at this point; so I’m basically free to help you guys out!

@CyRanchXfer I had the same problem! Make sure you are sending a PHYSICAL copy of your transcript. Apparently AP credits don’t show up on the electronic transcript for some reason. If you live close (I go to ACC), then I would just physically bring your copy to the admissions center :slight_smile: After I turned in the physical copy, mystatus changed and showed I have 30+ hours.

@adr1697 Wait, seriosuly; I had an AP Phyc Credit and that would have put me at 31 credit hours. dang

But makes sure it says you actually have the class number and stuff on it, not just credit

@utcswannabe I believe you can still send them that physical copy since we have until June 1 to submit a transcript with 30+ hours.

@utcswannabe Just make sure you’ve sent those AP scores to your current college (and not just UT) so they’ll be on your transcript.

@adr1697 This was last year though, I’m at 45 credit hours right now so no biggy

@utcswannabe Oh ok! Yeah I wish someone would have told me that AP scores don’t show up on electronic transcripts. It was such a hassle getting in contact with the admissions office.

@adr1697 Thanks so much. Admissions said they only saw 15 hours on the electronic transcript. Having a paper copy sent today. I don’t think I ever would have solved that without your help… transfer admissions folks seem very sketchy about AP credit. They don’t seem to know for sure how it works, the admissions website is ambiguous about it, and the whole SPEEDE thing only complicates the issue.

A&M is my 2nd choice but their website is crystal clear about AP credit and how it counts toward transfer hours requirement (it doesn’t). But then they only require 24 graded hours so I’m OK there.

Anyway, thanks again.

@CyRanchXfer Ewwww, A&M
