Anyone know how competitive the studio art program is? I’m applying from a community college with 43 hours all transferable and mostly A’s, but only a 3.29 gpa because I did somewhat poorly in a few of my high school dual credit classes. I have 400+ volunteer hours and a pretty strong portfolio, but I’m really concerned about how low my gpa is
@utcswannabe Do you mean that decisions will start to be released in 19 days or that the majority of decisions will be? For us people with 30+ hours, that is.
@rjbolger My fault, I meant the start of releasing admission decisions for most majors.
Does it matter at what time you applied?
I applied on March 30, and sent in my resume a day later because I didn’t have my UT EID?
Does this hurt your application chances?
@GreenStripe No not at all in any form, if your application was accepted that’s all that matters
Does UT frown upon taking summer classes at a different Uni before transferring in the fall?
@sp00ky no I dont think so
@GreenStripe isnt the deadline March 1st?
A message to anyone watching this thread:
Whenever you get your admission decision please post that you received it on this thread. According to last year’s thread, some admissions offers should be placed over the next two weeks or so. This is just for the benefit of all the people in this thread, thanks!
Hook E’m!
Question: I have over 30 hours INCLUDING AP exams… but not over 30 graded semester hours. What boat does that put me in? This is my second semester of my freshman year, so I won’t have 30 hours until the end of this spring term. Just trying to figure out when I’d hear back.
@snoopfrog When you go into your mystatus (under the admissions tab) does it say “to do list: Send second semester transcript” or anything along the lines of that?
@utcswannabe No - I have completed every available task. It says they received my transcript - which btw has my AP credits on it converted to the hours they earned.
Can someone chance me?
Applying to Moody School of Communications, majoring in Journalism
Second choice: English at COLA
-3.84 Gpa
-30+ hours
-Letter of recommendation from my schools dean
-Letter of recommendation from HBO producer
-100+ volunteer hours at church
-phi theta kappa
-managed a college soccer team
-worked jobs all my life since I was 15
-not to toot my own horn but my essays were amazing and showed my character and love of UT & my major
I’m scared because I know moody is hard to get into. Thanks guys, message me if you want me to chance you.
Also what are y’all gonna do about living situations? Sucks we only have a month to figure it out.
@averymc freestyling it I guess lol, just gunna go on reddit and college confidential messaging people. i would suggest to start messaging people now if you think you have a shot of getting in.
@averymc You have a decent shot of getting in if you took the transfer classes, that GPA is definitively competitive.
I’d say you have pretty good chances with that GPA and overall quality of application. Btw, is Moody harder to get into than COLA? I’m gonna find out my decision this summer (hopefully by June 15th) but I KNOW that all of you will get in as well. Good luck to you all. Will chance anyone who needs it, just post credentials here. I check this thread once every two hours atleast
@wickedwarrior777 LOL, i finish like 5 calc 3 problems and check this thread so I would say about every hour or 2.
Might as well see what others think!
Applying to COLA (1st: Sociology 2nd: Psychology)
-3.67 GPA (All A’s except Calculus… turns out I didn’t even need calc for the major I decided on. cool!)
-30+ hours (including AP credits that have been attributed to specific university courses)
-active club officer first year at university
-volunteer work
-had a job during the school year (20 hrs/week)
-for what it’s worth, I’ve taken several soc courses so far which hopefully demonstrates my interest…
Are most people here applying from Texas community colleges/UT system schools? Just curious!
