First choice nursing here as well! On last year’s thread, nursing was one of the last roll-outs…I just want to know ASAP so I can start finding somewhere to live…I have pretty much the same stats as you. Where are you transferring from?
P.S. if anyone has any other info on external nursing transfers at UT please let me know!
Hello people! I’ve been lurking on this thread for a while. I’m currently applying to UT Austin as a transfer for Computer Science from UW-Madison.
I’m an international student. I have finished 50 credits and have 15 credits in progress this semester.
My GPA is 3.95.
The classes I have taken are:
Physics 1 & 2 (AB, A)
Chem 1 & 2 (A, A)
Calc 1, 2, 3 (A, A, A)
CS 1, 2, 3 ( A, A, A)
Discrete Math (In progress but expecting an A)
Linear Algebra and Diff Eqns (In progress but expecting an A)
Stats for Engineers (A)
I have taken certain other Gen Eds too and received As in them.
I submitted my application on Feb 27th. No LORs. My essays were pretty good but those things are subjective right?
My ECs:
- Undergraduate Research Scholar where I developed a mobile app to keep track of user data for customizing user interface.
- I’m currently researching in the Machine Learning domain for figuring out how to detect Alzheimer’s in its early stages.
- I designed a cost effective bicycle anti theft kit to solve the problem of bicycle theft on the UW campus. Still try to make it commercially feasible but the project reached the semi finals of Microsoft Imagine Cup.
- Been to a bunch of hackathons.
- Represented UW-Madison at various college level MUN conferences.
- Interned during summer at an MNC to develop a talent management mobile application for them.
- Working remotely with a non profit for a year and providing them IT support.
Can anyone chance me on these particulars? I’m kinda really worried if I have a chance or not? (Don’t wanna get my hopes up unnecessarily).
And you guys have been a great help for the admission stuff and congrats to everyone who got in. You guys deserved it!
@utCStransfer
I’d say ur chances are pretty good. Best of luck.
@supersaiyanhan
I’m transferring from ACC (Austin Community College). I have all prerequisites and “recommended” co-requisites that they have listed except English Lit (which I would take this summer). I recently found out that we would still have to apply to the upper division nursing program even if we are accepted… we would only be pre-nursing if we get accepted.
Where else have you applied?
Beyond how many hours you applied with, does anyone know what order they are sorting the applications in, or is it just random?
@wickedwarrior777 what do you think about my chances? I am trying to get someone’s perspective.
I think your extracurriculars are good. It’s hard to say because idk how competitive your major is. Do you know the average GPA for the college which your major is in? If I know the average GPA, then I can better chance you.
I do not know what the average is… although, it does say that transfers should have at least a 3.0
I think you have a good chance
Does anyone know what my chances are of getting in? My gpa is 3.732 and I applied for Computer Science Transfer, also do they release waves of decisions every day?
@Texas2019
Did u get a response for your “health and society” major?
@utcswannabe Hey bro do you think I can transfer into CS with a 3.723 GPA?
@Ineedtoknow88 I’m going to be honest with you, your chances are low. If you are applying out of state then your basically auto denied. This major is one of the most (if not the most) competitive majors in the entire school. Computer Science at UT is ranking 7th in the world and 6th in the nation, so the competition is stiff. Here is the only saving graces you have…
- Your in State
- You have A's in all STEM classes (or like 1 B)
- Your essays are crazy good
- You have really good ec's or recommendations
Your GPA is not standout at all, but I would say it’s close to average
(The stuff I have listed are in order of most important to least important, the top #2 are the highest predictors of your success in getting into UTCS)
@Ineedtoknow88 I should preface this by saying that, there is always a chance. There are people who made it with 3.6 GPAs even, so you know… it’s not over till the fat lady sings
@utcswannabe yea I see what you mean, I did upload medical forms that supports why my GPA was low too, its actually a 3.737 (which isnt much better but you know) Also, you meant to say chance right? And really? I didn’t know even a 3.6 GPA could get in. Btw, I am in-state and got like 2 Bs in STEM courses.
@utcswannabe Also, Im just so nervous about decisions right now, since I clearly didn’t get in the first wave. I don’t know how frequently they release decisions either so its super nerve-racking.
@Ineedtoknow88 there are at least one more wave, so your still good
Just met with one of the heads for External Transfers today. Apparently, no decisions for McComb’s will be released until at least July 1st. McComb’s and Petroleum Engineering seem to be the only schools doing this.
