@britni12 I forgot to tell you about my essay. It was about how I realized I wanted to be a print journalism instead of a psychologist. I wrote how I felt amongst my peers in psychology (and when I failed a class everyone else was doing good in).
My essay E was about how I have a speech impediment
Did anyone receive a decision from Mccombs School of Business?
Also, I accepted admission from UT Dallas and their financial aid too. If I get into UT Austin and accepted their admission, am I going to face any issues with financial aid?
Wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me? I applied as a transfer to COLA. I have 78 credits and an overall GPA of 3.6, but I’ve made a 4.0 (and all A’s in my major specific classes) for the last 3 semesters. I also had volunteer and work experience related to my field, and wrote 3 unique essays about my passion for mental health and social justice. I haven’t heard anything yet and I’m starting to get concerned…
Does anyone else feel like they’re super late on rolling out decisions this year?? There were so many more acceptances posted at this time on last years thread
If anybody gets to know, or know, anymore information about when they will post decisions, especially for engineering, please let us know. It’s unbelievably ridiculous how late they are this year.
I sent in my transcript by mail from my school to the Office of Admissions. It was sent on Friday and they said they have not received it yet. But when they receive it it takes 7 to 10 days for it to process or something like that. What if that is before after June 1st?!
Getting really nervous, I hope someone has an answer.
Just experienced probably the closest thing I’ve ever had to a heart attack today. Checked MyStatus to see I had been denied admission and immediately called undergraduate admissions to figure out how to file an appeal. I discovered that the final transcript they received from me showed that I had only completed 24 credit hours (my final transcript was submitted last Thursday online from ACC when grades were posted). The person on the phone told me that online transcripts submitted through ACC do NOT show credit awarded for AP exams taken in high school (I have 33 credit hours completed including the 9 hours ACC counted from my AP exams taken in high school). I went into the undergraduate admissions office this morning and turned in a paper copy of my transcript because I had to get it stamped to certify I had been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, and I’m so glad that I did because apparently transcripts (from ACC at least) only show awarded AP credit when submitted in paper form. I had no idea this was the case but was very glad that I submitted a paper copy directly to the admissions office because if not they may not have seen I had actually completed 30+ hours. That was scary. Very shaken because MyStatus still says I’ve been denied but I’ve been notified that decision was premature and is going to be reversed because I have now submitted a transcript showing my 24 hours taken at ACC and the 9 hours they awarded me from AP that comes out to 33 hours total.
Moral of the story; IF YOU ATTEND ACC AND ARE BANKING ON AP CREDIT FROM HIGH SCHOOL TO MEET THE 30 CREDIT HOUR REQUIREMENT BY THE JUNE 1ST DEADLINE, SUBMIT A PAPER COPY (AT THIS POINT DIRECTLY TO THE OFFICE, MAILING ONE MAY BE RISKY AS JUNE 1ST IS QUICKLY APPROACHING). ONLINE TRANSCRIPTS WON’T SHOW YOUR AWARDED AP CREDIT AND YOU’LL APPEAR TO HAVE LESS THAN 30 HOURS AND BE DENIED.
Don’t know if this was common knowledge or not but figured I’d let y’all know in case anyone is in a similar situation credits wise. Don’t want anyone to be scared out of their mind like I was before I called the office.
@krisstory99 Don’t know how it works with mail-ins, but even when I turned in my paper transcript in person they said it would take 5-7 business days to process BUT they stamp it on the date they receive it and the stamped date is what determines if it is on time or not. I would definitely call the office and verify, but if mail-ins are treated the same way as hand-ins they’ll probably just stamp it for the date they receive it. Definitely call admissions though.
Also I applied to COLA Philosophy with a 3.88 GPA, as a Phi Theta Kappa member, with some pretty good essays (I thought) and letters from two UT Alumni I had as professors and a former Olympian that worked with UT track athletes who is my current coach. I felt my application was pretty strong so I was absolutely SHOOK when I saw I’d been denied and was relieved like none other when I discovered it was a mistake. I really hope I get in now, I’m worried
I applied for COLA Government. The my status page says they recieved final transcript, but it still has the message saying that they’ll view application after receive transcript with 30 hours. have tripled checked an all of classes transferred. Did this happen to anyone else? Should be worried?.
I get better answers from the admission when I go to the university myself rather than talk to them over the phone. Is it just me? or did anyone else notice this?
I totally think you’ll get in. Anything above 3.8 for COLA should be really good. Plus, your extracurriculars are also good imo. Best of luck, but don’t worry, you’re in!
@averagekid123 I’m trying to transfer to COLA government as well and ran into the same problem as you, I called admissions and they told me it takes a few days for the university to process transcripts and make sure our credits are all okay. Apparently your portal should say you’re in review after the transcript has been processed… lmk if yours does!
Hopefully trying to transfer into Mccombs for Finance, second option is Econ (COLA)
GPA: 3.91 (B in Psychology in a winter class)
34 hours and a bunch of AP’s
LOR: 2, boss and economics prof
Working for the past year
Volunteering: 150 hours
All prereqs knocked out (kinda sketched out because I took Macro Econ in high school and got a 4 so I don’t know whether or not they accept this form of completion for the indicator course)
