@UTaustin69 It looks like your GPA will be right on average, so it will come down to what your resume, essays, and LOR’s say about you. UT doesn’t care about EC’s from high school. What have you done in college? Also do you have Cal 2 finished?
@UTMccombs2017 I have only been in college for 2 semesters, so I was limited to my EC’s. I have participated in Phi Theta Kappa and Psi Beta (no officer positions since my membership was limited to one semester). I do have Cal 2 finished! Both of my LOR’s are business oriented and my essays were structured around business/perseverance/ dedication topics as well (I hope these focuses aren’t too cliche). Thanks for the feedback!
@UTaustin69 Hmm, your decision will also depend on the competitiveness of applicants this year. For instance, if the average admitted GPA is say a 3.93, it is less than likely you will be admitted. If it is say a 3.89, it is likely you will be admitted. To be completely honest, your EC sounds about average, so it will really come down to how good your essays really were and good your LOR’s were, along with the average GPA for the year. Did you get to read your LOR’s?
thank you @yungchildish
I called the Office of Admissions and they told me they’d time stamp the transcript and that will be the date they will take!

@UTMccombs2017 Lol, I got to write them both! To be pretty honest even if I don’t get into Mccombs, economics is far from a consolation for me, I just hope they don’t reject me from both schools since I put Mccombs as my first and economics as my second.
Is a 3.8 GPA average or above average for COLA?
@Lalita-2016 What are your stats if you don’t mind me asking?
@Lalita-2016 yeah, I was wondering what your stats were too? I applied to COLA with a 3.6 (but I’ve made a 4.0 the last 3 semesters and have all A’s in major related classes)3 good essays, volunteer experience related to my major, and work experience
Anyone hear back from Moody/ school of social work?

Getting nervous, can anyone chance me?
Wondering if someone can chance me.
Applied to Moody/RTF
Have 50 credit hours from an out of state art University
My GPA was a 3.86
1 LOR from a screenwriting professor who works in the film industry
Just did the required essays, but I think they’re good
Was on the dean’s list twice, and presidents list once (there for 3 semesters)
Had 80+ volunteer hours at a film festival
1 of 30 students nationwide chosen for a student film program with the Santa Barbara international film festival
I just finished a semester (12 credits) at community college and earned a 3.69 gpa for the semester (my current school doesn’t do + or - grades, so my 87 in bio ended up being a solid B, which brought my GPA down a little)
If anyone could chance me that would be great
Thanks!
Fafsa Update: My Fafsa has been processed and got an email from UT that they received it
I applied to social work as well, but haven’t heard anything. I went to the University of Arkansas and had an overall GPA of 3.6, but my GPA for all my social work classes is a 4.0. Also I was admitted to the social work program at Arkansas last year and have volunteer and work experience with Foster care
I also applied to SW. I got an email last night that said UT had received my FAFSA application and when I logged into MyStatus it said my application was under review. So hopefully that means they’re starting their next wave and we’ll all hear something soon!
Has anyone heard back from Cockrell yet?
I did not heard back from cockrell or know anyone who got admitted. So far they’ve been rejecting people and I’m waiting for my dose of reality!
ok I just called and he said we are releasing decisions everyday and there are still many decisions that they haven’t made yet! I told him I need to know so I can plan my summer and fall and he said he can’t approximate when the decision will be made regarding my application and that I need to be patient!!!
Honestly just looking for some peace of mind right now…person I talked to at admissions said I was good and my AP credit that ACC awarded me would be counted to meet my 30 hour requirement but I’m just really paranoid. For anyone that already claimed AP credit at their current institution, those credits were/are being included as part of your admission decision correct? My official transcript shows the 9 credits from AP that I need to meet the 30 hour requirement but my MyStatus is still showing the auto-rejection I got because they thought I only had 24 hours because they couldn’t see my AP credits on the first transcript I sent…and it’s just bugging me hahaha. Admissions guy told me I was good and that my AP credits would count BUT I’d get a lot more peace of mind hearing that another student claimed AP credit at their current school and it counted.
I got admitted last Thursday to the College of Natural Sciences; but am currently trying to appeal for a major change. Hopefully I get the major change I want before my orientation in July, or else I will just try super hard first year and go for the internal transfer.
