Accepted earlier today to Mechanical Engineering. I had a 4.0 gpa, around 50 hours when I applied, 1 LOR and a few good ECs.
I believe they are putting spring semester gpa into the question for engineering students, no matter how many hours they applied with. That’s just speculation though.
Is GPA the main deciding factor in the admission process? I have a 3.824 and some internships (medical) on the side, but goes GPA influence the application The most?
@declanbb They are factoring in spring grades this year, this is why it is taking so long. I had spoken with the head of admissions a couple of weeks back and she had stated that the reason why everything is behind this year and why there won’t be massive early decision waves is that the university is waiting until spring grades are in for all students, except for those with more than 60 hours.
@UTMccombs2017 wait seriously?? I got CAPed for freshman admissions into government so I appealed and now I’m trying to get in as a transfer. I just now completed my 30 hours and bumped up my 2.6 to a 3.03. I saw mostly everyone here posting GPAs of 3.6+ and thought I was screwed. My résumé is pretty good so I hope you’re right in that government admissions being easy…
Are y’all sure about sending second semester grades for all students? I have nowhere that says to submit another transcript & I now have 57 hours
Seems like Cockrell is doing lots of admissions today
Nothing about Mccombs yet. Somebody kill me.
Do they usually make decisions at a certain time during the day? Or is it random?
Is the housing portal giving you an authentication error window?
^^same for me
For the question about second transcript you only need to send it if the admission put a note on your account. It would be seen on the page say your admissions is in review. I called to make sure and they told me that. It’s mainly for students that didn’t apply with 30 credit hours already done or certain majors.
So I just got my acceptance letter! College of natural sciences!
@rmitchell1021 major and stats??
Biology
-4.0 GPA
-2 LOR’s
-3 EC’s
-57 hours
My essays were pretty strong I thought. I mostly talked about being a military kid and what experiences I could bring to UT. I also graduated high school when I was fifteen and have done full time college since so I don’t know if they factored that in.
@Rmitchell1021 I also graduated at 15!
I didn’t graduate at 15, but I did graduate early (by a year), so maybe that’ll also help me
@frenzyu that’s awesome! What’s your major?
How long did it take you guys to have your application under review once everything was in?
@Rmitchell1021 I applied to RTF with a 3.63 hoping to hear back soon. And congrats!
