@dilettante023 I know! I don’t mind applying because it’ll be free but now the college is at the bottom of my list. I feel crummy because I wish I had gotten the other email saying it was because of my financial situation (which I thought was gonna happen)
Denied w/ the fee waiver and call, pretty bummed out but congrats to everyone who go in
@collegeclassof21 They did require one!
Denied with nothing
This is the email I received
Thank you for your interest in the Windows on Williams (WOW) program. This year’s WOW applicant pool is among the largest and strongest in the program’s history, and unfortunately, we cannot accept all of the talented students who applied. I’m sorry that we’re unable to include you among the 2016 WOW Scholars.
If you have any questions about the college application process, or if I can help in any way, please don’t hesitate to be in touch. I wish you all the best for a wonderful senior year.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Gonzalez
Associate Director for Diversity Recruitment
Williams College
Wow i feel so bad rn lol i guess my app was so bad they didnt even offer a fee waiver or anything.
Accepted! I was so worried about getting rejected since my ACT score is below the 25th percentile for Williams.
I’m in!! (And I self reported my transcript instead of sending one.)
Denied but I too received the fee waiver and call. @collegeclassof21 we were supposed to either upload a copy of a transcript or self report our transcript info.
For those accepted, what were your test scores? Class rank? Thanks!
@DoctorMD I wasn’t accepted but it feels so weird? My essay must have been terrible, because I had a 33, an UW 4.0 (All IB courses), and I’m 5th in my class (Out of 400)
@appcolleges7 sometimes, luck just isn’t on your side. please don’t take this as you not being good enough. what matters is that you (hopefully) had fun writing the essay. for all it’s worth, your stats are gr8, and you’ll definitely have a good chance applying to Williams this winter.
@appcolleges7 No worries. I’m a little confused too haha. I’m the valedictorian of my class with 630+ kids in it, and my SAT score was a 1420 (not super high but, I thought it was acceptable). I have taken 10 AP’s so far, and I will be taking 9 this year. This isn’t my first rejection however. I was also rejected to Dartmouth’s summer bound program. I’ll ask them on the phone. I’m curious to see what they were looking for in an applicant.
I was accepted! @DoctorMD I’m ranked 3rd in my class and 32 ACT. Honestly though, with colleges like Williams, ACT and class rank alone are not going to do it for you. These type of schools view an application holistically.
@markb2017 Ahh congratualtions!!! Happy for you!!!
@appcolleges7 Maybe your income was too high?
@DoctorMD I had a 27 ACT (29 English, 28 Math, 28 Reading, 24 Science) and am 7th out of 265 (though I explained that after moving schools, my class rank was effected badly since my old school only did college classes and my new school does not weigh them in the same way.)
I also had a 5 on AP Gov and a 4 on AP lang ( I will be taking four APs next year.)
@collegeclassof21 Maybe they didn’t offer a fee waiver because of your family income?
@DoctorMD Wow, that seems pretty impressive to me. I went to the Dartmouth Bound program. Maybe it’s your extracurriculars or essay? If you don’t mind my asking, what sort of things are you involved in? Also, as far as the Dartmouth Bound program goes, one of the biggest things they were seeking was diversity. Do you identify with a traditionally unrepresented racial group, such as African American, Hispanic, etc? I was a little surprised by some of Dartmouth’s choices. Some of the students had ACT scores in the lower 20’s and were only in the 40th-50th percentile of their class. I suppose they were serious when they said they do a holistic review of an applicant and take into account individual circumstances.
Accepted! I had a 32 ACT. Wow, this feeling feels so weird. I am sooo excited
I’m so excited and can’t wait to meet those of you who were accepted! Does anyone know if there’s a facebook group or anything of that sort?
