YES they just opened up another section for the 4th course TYBG. Sigh the cc struggles
I’m jealous of anyone here that goes to a CC and has a wide range of classes to choose from, I struggle to find any classes at all lol… my CC has a ton of courses listed on their department pages, and they ACTUALLY offer maybe 20-30% of them
@penntousc yea but first year students like me have less priority than second year students, lmao either i just got lucky these past quarters or I have quick hands during adding period.
@Skepta oh ok, I can see where that would be frustrating. Thankfully for me, the classes that I’m supposed to take (at least the ones that they actually offer) are all available since everyone is trying to get there AA and I’m just doing what is hopefully a one and done with a bunch of GEs lol
Going to USC next Monday to meet with some professors! With me luck lol.
I applied to USC with a 4.0 from a local Southern California Community college. I have completed all my general education classes (IGETC) which also follows USC’s general education plan. So far I have completed 47 units and will have 62 in total by the end of spring semester. I have always been a full time student taking 15+ units each semester with summer and winter classes. This morning I woke up to an email from USC Admissions asking for my official high school transcripts. Im a little confused as to why they would ask for my high school transcripts if I am a second year college student. I’m scared they might use my high school transcripts to make an admission decision. Is anyone else in a similar situation or maybe have some insight as to why they are asking for my high school transcripts?
@sc4589 everyone is required to submit high school transcripts as proof that they’ve graduated from high school, your HS grades will not be evaluated
Why are they asking for your HS transcripts so late…
Anyone here know the difficulty of getting private loans? I’ll need them if I get into USC, but I didn’t have to take out loans for CC so I’m not sure how accessible they are
@SportsNerd24 Did you receive an interview or is it something you’re doing on your own?
the wait for USC continues to kill me! I got into my backup today, though, so at least I know that I’ll be enrolled somewhere in the fall and will be prepping for my second chance at transferring if USC rejects me, haha.
@itslife123 It probably means they began looking at his application but realized he was missing important materials. They’ve got a lot of people applying so they can’t keep track of everyone’s application as soon as the deadline passes.
@penntousc If you are looking for private loans, if you do not have credit or good credit you will probably need a cosigner.
Although I think my application was strong and so was my GPA, I would be extremely surprised to receive any scholarship offers from USC since it’s so competitive. But does anyone know what kinds of transfer students have received the transfer merit scholarship in the past? I’ve heard many ppl on here say that since counselors focus more on your GPA in the application process, ECs are not really as beneficial when comparing applicants to each other. But, in the case of what admissions counselors are looking at for transfer merit student, what do you guys think/know? I know USC’s official scholarship list mentions high GPA and rigorous coursework, but isn’t “rigorous coursework” sort of subjective and almost based on the intended major of the applicant? i.e. a Viterbi applicant will likely have a much more intense course load than say a Dornsife applicant… (no shade lol, just being honest).
@itslife123 My counselor asked me for my HS transcripts/proof of graduation the first week of May. I like to believe that’s why I heard back after the June 1st deadline even though I didn’t get an SGR (which was unlikely since I had 85 semester units) and probably why I got spring admission and stuff, but I like to complain about that too much
@pianorite haha yea don’t flatter yourself
@zettasyntax love you’re icon! Have you played he game yet?
@jjcc77 it’s something I’m doing on my own. I want to introduce myself before they look at my application lol.
@pianorite stem classes are obviously more rigorous than classes associated with Dornsife majors in terms of math and science, but they’re also polar opposites and so the admissions counselors aren’t going to be biased towards stem majors just because they have a lot of difficult math and science courses to complete. By rigorous I think they mean taking classes that are challenging but also related to their major or GE requirements, taking a relatively heavy course load (4+ courses, 15+ units), and maintaining a high GPA in those courses.
Think about it like this: just because an applicant in a stem major is able to be successful in stem courses, doesn’t mean they’re automatically skilled enough to be successful in business courses, film courses, communications courses, law courses, lit courses, etc.
