Anyone else ?
I applied to dornsife as a sociology major. I will be a sophomore next year and I will have 34 credits and a 3.94 by the end of this year. I took all the required English classes, but I did not take math this semester; I am taking math over the summer. Will this kill my chance of getting admitted?
If you’re taking the algebra pre-req during the summer you would not meet the requirement for admission.
@srubien most people fulfill the math requirement in HS with algebra 2, but if you haven’t fulfilled that and won’t by the end of this semester, it’s almost a guaranteed rejection.
Applying for health and humanity, anyone else too?
I’m applying as a biology major!
I applied to Annenberg Comm! I’ll lose it if I have to wait until the end of May for my decision…
Dornsife - political science!
I went to Annenberg today and spoke with a professor for an hour and a half and it was amazing. I also toured the campus with my friend who goes there and I’ll be going back again this Saturday. I think I have a pretty good chance at getting accepted after talking with the professor
Oh ok. I took algebra 2 in hs. I didn’t know that was the minimum math
@srubien unless your major has a specific math requirement than that is all you really need to be considered, it’s the university general math requirement.
For those who’s quarter or semester ends in june, if we get an SGR we will probably here back in july. If we do get admitted is it.most likely gonna be spring admit or this there a good chance @ being fall.
Okay great! I think I have a pretty good chance then.
@Panitaispretty Definitely. It always seems to be the case that a sizable batch of decisions (primarily Dornsife or Marshall) go out in late April, so if there’s no activity this week, next week should definitely be a busy week for the thread
So my fafsa efc was 21k, however my usc financial aid summary says I need to pay 61k, do you think I can contact them and ask them why it is so different? Do you think they might lower it?
@nalabearz4 it’s always good to appeal because most people get additional aid, but you can’t expect them to drop the price to only 21k per year. Almost nobody pays off their college debt at the same rate that it accumulates, so no matter what, your cost of attendance is going to be much higher than your EFC, because payments on loans are expected to be made over time. I have an EFC of 0 and if I get accepted, I’ll likely still have to take out around 16k per year in loans.
Paying 61k pretty much means you got little to no financial aid .Definitely would contact and try appeal.
