Stats:

[ul]
[] College transferring from: Small 4-year LAC in NJ
[
] Trojan Transfer Plan (TTP): No.
[] Major: 1st Choice: Marshall, Business Admin. |||| 2nd Choice: Dornsife, Economics
[
] Entering as: Junior?
[] GPA: 3.95
[
] Units completed: 48 (+8 AP Credits) Each class = 4 credits, I did 4 classes a semester
[] Units in progress: 18
[
] Pre-reqs completed: Business Calc (Math 118) and I was exempt from the core writing classes at my school due to AP credit, but I am in a reading/writing class now that I sent in the syllabus for.
[] GEs completed: Like 9?
[/ul]Subjective:

[ul]
[
] ECs listed on app: Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, tons of volunteer work on political campaigns (presidential and local), founder and president of a political club at my high school, peer tutor
[] Job/Work Experience: Finance intern at my college (position offered to me by a professor I had who took a liking to me), operate eBay business.
[
] Essays (subject and responses): Common app essay talked about a health diagnosis that I allowed to hold me back from going outside of my comfort zone and how it affected my school performance, and how I am not letting it hold me back any longer… Supplements, I talked about diversity of thought and how my views were constantly challenged in my club I formed in high school, and how it made me a more critical thinker and more well-rounded individual. Other supplement, I spoke about the alumni network, different programs Marshall has to offer, and how overall I am just the embodiment of the whole “Fight on!” school message due to my health diagnosis.
[] Letters of Recommendation: None (in additional info section talked about how I was applying rather close to the deadline due to uncertainty regarding my health, but I talked about some of the things my professor who offered me the internship said about me and stuff)
[/ul]Other:

[list]
[
] Other schools applied to: Tulane (Accepted with highest transfer merit scholarship, but declined admission - too expensive).

@Vincent1997 I’m with you man. Got rejected from Mcintire yesterday, now I’m all in on USC and UT Austin

My cousin is at UT Austin.

Out of state of tuition is a killer, but her parents can afford it!

Rejected form USC last year with a 3.8 GPA. Applied for Communications, and applied again this year for the same major. I have a 3.52 GPA as of now, (including honors classes) and I’m currently studying abroad at the University of Oxford. I’m extremely nervous, have been getting rejected from pretty much all UCs (got into Chapman). My Chapman and USC application were a lot better though… Wish me luck!

@OmaNebr Nice, ya luckily I would get in-state cause I’m a Texan. However, if costs permit I would choose USC over UT simply because USC is…well…USC

@optimistic12 If, I don’t receive good news from USC we could be fellow Texans, because I will be at Baylor.

ACCEPTED TO MARSHALL!!!
CCC GPA 3.95
some ECs including internships and volunteer works
1 recommendation from my statistic professor
international student
I don’t know is it matter but my brother just graduated from USC last year
btw I got waitlisted by UCSD and UCI lol

@feelssadman CONGRATS! How were you notified?

@feelssadman congratulations!!

hi guys, i just got SGR’ed and portal updated with a SGR letter on april 27th. does anyone know how i should send them my spring grades? Also does SGR typically mean i’m going to get in as long as i mantain (or higher) my gpa from fall semester? I’m a sophomore transfer from Pepperdine university btw! thanks!

@fluffybunny14 Are you saying that the portal just updated with your letter today? interesting that they do it on a weekend.

There should be specific instructions on how to send spring grades; imagine you will have to send an official transcript from Pepperdine.

And no, SGR doesn’t really mean anything. There was a guy on here who got a SGR, got a 4.0, and got rejected. There’s also another guy on here that got an SGR solely because they wanted to see their spring math class grade. They got rejected cause they got a B

Don’t want to discourage you or anything; but yeah it could go either way at this point. Good luck!

Double post for some reason; delete please

@feelssadman Big congrats!! Were you initially notified with a portal update or a package?

SGR is a great thing and means you will most likely be accepted if you get all A’s

@feelssadman congrats! better change your name to feelsgoodman! Did you have all your prereqs completed?

Anyone know anything about housing? I am applying for housing right now …

@optimistic12 What state are you from?

@thedailyjav there’s a really good booklet that comes with your acceptance package that breaks down all the housing options including amenities, floor plan, meals plans, and the rates depending on the number of roommates. Or visit http://housing.usc.edu/
